- Description
- Testing is underway at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool after renovations were completed, which is expected to be filled with water in the coming days, according to the Trump administration.
Trump noted the work to paint the shallow basin a deep shade, which he calls “American flag blue,” was completed on Wednesday.
The administration said in a court filing it’s set to be filled with water no later than Sunday.
Trump announced the project in April, inspired by a friend’s complaint. The cost is estimated at $1.5 million to $2 million, but records show at least $14.8 million worth of contracts has been awarded for the project.
Critics argue the Republican president is focusing too much on personal projects.
A nonprofit filed a lawsuit to stop work at the “dark grey” pool, claiming the new paint color suggested a “theme park.” The pool was built in the 1920s and is an iconic Washington site.

- Description
- The New World screwworm fly has reached South Texas, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed Wednesday, the first time in decades that the parasite with flesh-eating larvae has threatened the nation's cattle industry and only the third time it's appeared in the U.S. in that time.
Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins said the case was in a 3-week-old calf in LaPryor, Texas, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) from the Mexico border. Texas State Veterinarian Bud Dinges said he has established a 12-mile (20-kilometer) quarantine zone, prohibiting the movement of any warm-blooded animal — including pets — outside that zone without an inspection.
Rollins said there have been no other detections of the fly in the U.S., and officials were quick to say that while the fly's larvae are a threat to livestock production, they don't infest food. Properly treated, even the infested calf should recover, Rollins said.

After a video of the animal went viral on social media, large numbers of people started showing up at the farm outside the capital to see him for themselves.
The buffalo was originally meant to be slaughtered for Eid al-Adha, the Islamic festival of sacrifice.
But citing security concerns over the size of the crowds, the government ordered him transferred to the zoo in Dhaka, where fans had been braving sweltering heat to see him.

- Description
- A buffalo nicknamed "Donald Trump" because of its shock of golden hair has been drawing crowds at Bangladesh's national zoo.
The rare albino bull, which weighs 1,500-pounds, became a sensation when a farmer suggested his blond tuft of hair resembled the U.S. president.

The decision follows a ruling weakening the Voting Rights Act and reshaping Southern districts.

- Description
- Remodeling can boost home value, but ROI varies. Experts say kitchens, bathrooms, and basements draw buyers, with minor kitchen remodels often recouping full cost. Smaller upgrades—garage doors, lawn care, entry doors, and refinished floors—can yield 100%+ ROI. Costly features like pools or home offices add little at resale. Practical, budget-friendly updates, such as cabinet hardware changes, often deliver better returns than major overhauls.
