The flames took hold at Sweeep Kuusakoski in Sittingbourne, with six fire engines called to the scene.
Justin Greenaway, commercial manager at the firm, said: “We are an electrical waste recycler. Within that electrical waste are lithium batteries which can self-ignite through a process called thermal runaway."
