- As a new gold rush takes over the world, driving up the price of gold to historic levels, the UAE has strategically turned itself into a global hub for gold, and gold laundering.
And it's done this partly through financing civil war in Africa, and in particular, Sudan, where a brutal all our war has waged for two years between the country’s military and a rogue mercenary army that’s figured out how to exchange gold for weapons.
This is that story.

- Israel has intensified its attacks across Gaza on Monday with at least 30 air strikes carried out within an hour in southern Gaza’s Khan Younis, killing at least 46 Palestinians according to Al Jazeera.
This comes after an Israeli undercover operation to kidnap senior figure Ahmad Kamel Sarhan of the al-Nasser Salah al-Deen Brigades, which operates under Hamas, failed after he met the undercover forces with resistance and was killed as a result. The Israeli forces abducted his wife and children.
Israeli units reportedly infiltrated southern Gaza disguised as displaced Palestinian civilians using a civilian vehicle.
Witnesses say a Palestinian child was also killed in the operation.
The Israeli military ordered the evacuation of the entirety of southern Gaza’s Khan Younis as its offensive escalates.

In a video posted on Sunday, the prime minister said minimal amounts of aid would be allowed into Gaza for "diplomatic reasons" as global outrage has grown at Israel's total blockade of Gaza, which has lasted over two and a half months and resulted in the deaths of dozens of children in the strip.

- Speaking to Fox News on Sunday, US hostage envoy Adam Boehler said that if Hamas wanted Israel's renewed "barrage of attacks" on Gaza to stop, the group needed to release remaining captives from the strip, adding that only through "toughness" would talks advance.
Boehler's comments follow a particularly deadly weekend in the besieged Gaza strip, with nearly 200 Palestinians killed in the past 24 hours as Israel announced it had launched its ground assault to "take control of all of Gaza", according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
CNN reported on Sunday that Hamas had agreed to release seven to nine captives in exchange for a 60-day ceasefire and the release of 300 Palestinian prisoners, yet no formal deal has been announced.
Israel's finance minister, Bezalel Smotrich, had previously said that Israel would not relinquish control of Gaza even in exchange for the release of captives.

- Jake Wood, head of the new Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), detailed a US backed plan to deliver aid into Gaza using private contractors, bypassing UN and traditional NGO channels.
Speaking to CNN, Wood said GHF aims to provide 300 million meals in 90 days via four initial distribution sites, scaling up to ten. He addressed sharp criticism from UN officials, who labelled the plan a 'cynical sideshow,' arguing that early objections were based on misinformation and that the new mechanism is necessary to feed people given Israel's restrictions on existing aid routes. “It’s not perfect,” he said, “but it’s the only viable option right now to feed people.”

The demonstration, marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, drew an estimated 600,000 people who marched to Downing Street in solidarity with Palestine.
Speaking near Downing Street, he highlighted the British Empire’s role in disarming Palestinians, enabling the 1948 catastrophe expulsion of 750,000 people, and the dehumanising views of figures like Winston Churchill.
He also brought to attention today’s UK government of enabling Israel’s genocide in Gaza through military and diplomatic support — including over 500 Royal Air Force surveillance flights allegedly aiding Israeli war crimes.

- In a powerful display of solidarity, an estimated half a million people filled the streets of central London to mark the 77th anniversary of the Nakba and protest Israel’s ongoing war on Gaza. The historic pro-Palestine demonstration called for urgent and decisive action from the UK government—including the immediate enforcement of a full arms embargo on Israel.
Reporting from the scene, Middle East Eye captured a wide range of voices, from Jewish protesters declaring “Not in our name,” to international allies like Greg Stoker, a former US Special Forces operative, who traced his solidarity with Palestine back to his military experience and disillusionment with U.S. foreign policy.
British activist Chris Kunzler pointed to a glaring gap in UK education on Palestinian history, while Palestinian ambassador Dr. Husam Zomlot called the march the largest and most sustained solidarity movement in British history. Despite growing censorship, Zomlot affirmed that the...

- At a massive pro-Palestine demonstration in London marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, British activist Chris Kunzler spoke to Middle East Eye about the urgency of taking action.
Kunzler admitted that his advocacy for Palestine didn’t begin in childhood, he highlighted a glaring gap in mainstream education, noting that British schools often omit the history of Palestine, the Nakba, and the ongoing displacement and subjugation of its people. “You're not taught that an indigenous population was forcibly dispossessed, or that they've been systematically oppressed ever since.”

- At the pro-Palestine demonstration in London today, MEE spoke with Dr Husam Zomlot, the Palestinian ambassador to the UK, who said this has become the largest and the longest solidarity and protest movement in the history of the UK. He called for an immediate and total arms embargo on Israel in light of its ongoing assault on Gaza.
“This is not a demand, it is a legal obligation,” he said, citing both UK domestic and international law in response to revelations that British arms exports to Israel have surged under the Labour government.
Zomlot denounced the mass killing and said Britain’s government must uphold the principles of justice and equality it claims to represent.

- Former US soldier breaks down Israeli propaganda in American army
- Date posted

- Description
- At the pro-Palestine demonstration in London marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba, Middle East Eye spoke with Greg Stoker, an American left-wing activist and former member of the US Special Operations Forces (SOF). Stoker, who was in London on a work trip said he felt compelled to join the protest to show “international solidarity with the Palestinian cause.”
Stoker explained that his support for Palestine began during his military service, particularly after analysing US military assessments of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah war, which concluded that the Israeli forces had suffered a strategic defeat, shattering the illusion of their moral and military superiority. This exposure to the realities behind the propaganda marked the beginning of his political awakening, eventually leading to a broader critique of Zionism and US foreign policy.

- William Dalrymple: UK must not support Israel’s ‘medieval siege’ on Gaza

- Description
- At Saturday’s massive march in London marking the 77th anniversary of the Nakba and protesting Israel’s war on Gaza, British historian and Empire podcast host William Dalrymple gave a scathing interview to Middle East Eye journalist Ava Warriner.
Dalrymple condemned Israel’s ongoing assault on Gaza as a “medieval siege”, accusing the Israeli government of openly pursuing the mass expulsion of Palestinians. He pointed to the starvation tactics being used against civilians and the rising death toll from air strikes, saying: “There’s never been a point where the immorality of Israeli behaviour towards Palestinians is more clear.”
He also criticised the Labour Party’s silence, noting the sharp contrast between its reaction to civilian deaths in Ukraine and its muted response to Gaza. He warned that the party risks alienating its base over its stance on Gaza and rising arms sales to Israel.
The historian ended with a stark warning: th...
