The Artemis II crew — NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA astronaut Jeremy Hansen — connected with Expedition 74 astronauts Chris Williams, Jack Hathaway, Jessica Meir, and ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot.
During the conversation, the ISS crew asked about life inside Orion and what it’s like to view the Moon up close. The Artemis II astronauts shared how training from the space station continues to shape their mission. Christina Koch, who completed spacewalks with Jessica Meir in 2020, reflected: “Every single thing that we learned on ISS is up here.”
This edited video aligns audio and video and removes long pauses caused by the communications delay as signals traveled more than 232,000 miles between spacecraft. The 15‑minute call began at 2...

Artemis II is the first crewed flight test of the Space Launch System (SLS) rocket and Orion, testing the technologies we'll need for long-term lunar exploration and human missions to Mars. After lifting off from NASA's Kennedy Space Center, the Artemis II astronauts are currently journeying around the Moon and back in their Orion spacecraft, named Integrity, on an approximately 10-day mission.
Under Artemis, NASA will send astronauts on increasingly difficult missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars.

- Description
- We launched Artemis II yesterday. Now what?
Four astronauts recently launched from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center to embark on a mission around the Moon. But liftoff was just the beginning.
The four astronauts aboard the mission — NASA astronauts Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, and Christina Koch, and Canadian Space Agency astronaut Jeremy Hansen—have spent their first day in space becoming acquainted with the Orion spacecraft. They set up important life support systems, communicated with Mission Control in Houston, and practiced manually piloting the vehicle.
What’s next? The “translunar injection” burn that commits them on the path of their lunar flyby.
