South Korea’s annual parliamentary audit has entered its second week, with lawmakers examining the Lee Jae Myung administration’s policies and the performance of government agencies.
After a first week dominated by disputes over judicial independence, financial regulation and national security, attention is now turning to Korea-U.S. intelligence cooperation, defense procurement and a series of domestic policy issues.

At KAIST, a range of these technologies was on display, with applications across industries and everyday life.

It then pushes a 15-kilogram load, before lifting it and setting it down again gently.
Nearby, another robot takes the captain's seat, operating controls just like a human would.
Working with the ROK Navy, it was able to steer a ship that weighed 100-thousand times itself.
What all these robots share is physical AI, technology that allows machines to sense, decide, and act in the real world.
KAIST showcased these advances Tuesday at its "Physical AI KOREA 2026" event, highlighting AI's progression into the physical world.

The International Monetary Fund released its latest World Economic Outlook on Tuesday.
It raised South Korea’s growth forecast in October for 2026 to 3-point-3 percent, up 0-point-7 percentage points from its July forecast.
It also raised its outlook for 2027 to 2-point-8 percent, up zero-point-3 percentage points from July.
South Korea's upward forecast revision was driven by strong external demand centered on semiconductors.

South Korean stocks extended their losing streak to five straight sessions on Tuesday, with the KOSPI plunging more than 5 percent as tech shares tumbled amid renewed concerns over the AI sector and inflation.

South Korea's benchmark KOSPI closed at 6-thousand-35-point-35 on Tuesday, down 5-point-46 percent from the day before, showing heavy swings that even triggered a sell-side sidecar in early trading.
The tech-heavy KOSDAQ also suffered losses, falling 1-point-43 percent, ending the day at 837-point-03.
A sell-side "sidecar" was activated at 9:47 AM, when KOSPI tumbled more than four percent in morning trade, halting program selling on the KOSPI.
This came after the KOSPI 200 Futures index dropped 51-point-two points, or five-point-08 percent, from the previous close of 955-point-02.

South Korea plans to relocate 44 central government agencies and nearly ten thousand civil servants from the capital of Seoul to its administrative hub, Sejong, between 2027 and 2031.
According to the Interior Ministry on Tuesday, 27 agencies, including the Financial Services Commission, will move into leased offices at Sejong in 2027 under the second government relocation plan.
The other 17 agencies, including criminal justice bodies and foreign affairs and security ministries, will move once their new buildings are completed.
Relocation dates for ministries currently exempt from the move will be set once the relevant law is amended.

Discover how Joseon artisans turned humble gray-clay vessels into striking works of art with a little white-clay “makeup.”
People aren’t the only ones who wear makeup.
During the Joseon Dynasty, pottery also got a makeover — with white clay.
These gray-clay vessels were coated and decorated with white clay, giving rise to what’s known as Buncheong ware.
Buncheong ware evolved from inlaid celadon of the late Goryeo Dynasty and flourished during the early Joseon period.
Unlike white porcelain, which was made from white clay, Buncheong ware started with gray clay — then got its distinctive look from a layer of white clay.
Artisans pressed stamps into the surface and filled the patterns with white clay.

South Korea, the United States and Japan held phone talks on Tuesday, Korea time, following North Korea's latest ballistic missile launches.
Seoul's Foreign Ministry says its Director-General for Korean Peninsula Policy, Baek Yong-jin , spoke with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State David Wilezol, and Japan's Deputy Director-General Takashi Ariyoshi.
During the call, the three officials shared information on Monday's launches and discussed how their governments would respond.
North Korea fired multiple ballistic missiles from the Pyongyang area towards the East Sea on Monday.
The Foreign Ministry added that the three countries maintain a communication channel to promptly exchange information and assessments whenever the North launches ballistic missiles.

Analysts say the drop is largely due to news that Chinese chipmaker CXMT has made progress in developing DRAM technology.
