- Description
- US President Donald Trump has told farmers a new market will be opening up in Iran, and that he plans to use Iranian assets to buy wheat, soybeans, and corn from American farmers.
"We're going to be taking some of their (Iran's) money, and we'll spend it," he said.
Trump insists that the unfrozen assets will be used to buy agricultural products, which will then be given to Iran as "they're having a hard time with food".
Following negotiations in Switzerland, Iranian ambassador to the United Nations, Ali Bahreini said "Iran is the only country who will decide what to do with its assets which are going to be 'defrozen'".

"We are Community Strong Australia because the superpower for Australia is its community, its multiculturalism," Steggall told reporters in Canberra.
The party will have no single leader and will focus on housing affordability, cost of living, climate action, childcare, education, healthcare and social cohesion.
"We have a structure that doesn't have a top-down (approach) ... there is not a situation like One Nation where the question may be is it Gina (Rinehart) or is it Pauline (Hanson) in charge," said Steggall.

“People from different backgrounds and cultures and nations, all wearing the green and gold, and representing one nation under one flag,” Hanson said.

The measure would require the president to seek Congressional approval to extend the war.
Also, an independent UN commission of inquiry says Israel has deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide, crimes against humanity and war crimes in the Gaza Strip.

- Ukraine's military struck key infrastructure in Russian-held Crimea, including a railway bridge and power plant in an effort to further isolate the territory.
The peninsula was seized from Ukraine and annexed by Moscow in 2014.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy thanked his defence forces for the strikes.
Zelenskyy went on to claim that "the majority in Russia" were taking issue with Russian President Vladimir Putin over the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia.
Putin said the strikes were meant as a distraction from what is occurring on the front line where "our guys are pounding away there every single day."

- United States President Donald Trump hailed his Iran deal on Tuesday during a speech at a truck manufacturing plant in Pennsylvania.
“We’re leaving them without any nuclear capacity. And they’ve agreed to that. And we’re getting along quite well,” the US president said.
A tentative agreement reached last week between the US and Tehran allows Iran to start selling its oil freely again during a 60-day period as the two countries continue negotiating key issues.
The memorandum of understanding also promised to unfreeze Iranian assets.
But Trump’s deal has come under fire for failing to address the reasons the president cited for going to war with Iran on 28 February, including curbing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, its missile program and its support for militant groups such as Hezbollah in Lebanon and Hamas in Gaza.

The US’ top diplomat arrived in the United Arab Emirates late on Tuesday and was due to travel in the coming days to Kuwait and Bahrain, where he will meet officials from the Gulf Cooperation Council, a grouping of monarchies that also includes Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman.
At issue are elements of a draft agreement that includes no limits on Iran’s ballistic missiles, a proposed US$300 billion ($434 billion) reconstruction fund and provisions that could expand Iran’s regional influence and control over critical oil shipping lanes.
He said he would not ask regional allies to contribute to any reconstruction fund during the trip, even as the MoU suggests that countries in the region woul...
