Passengers at the terminal faced hours of uncertainty on Monday morning.
One disappointed passenger told the Press Association: “We got on the plane, and they told us on the plane. We sat there for 30 minutes, and they took us off the plane, back to the waiting area. We sat there for two or two and a half hours, and then reboarded the plane.”
Chief Executive of Edinburgh Airport Gordon Dewar was “incredibly disappointed” that delays are happening for the second time this month.
Mr Dewar said the system is not sufficiently robust and “something needs to change”.
He added: “Of course, when flights are cancelled, that means aircraft are in the wrong place for the next one.

- ► A new plan to solve the backlog of rape cases in England and Wales has been praised as a “significant step forward”.
The Prime Minister. Andy Burnham, announced that there will be a specialist court room dedicated to handling rape cases and other serious sexual offences in every Crown Court over the next two years.
Under the layout, each building will have at least one room equipped for these types of cases. Alleged victims will be able to view proceedings remotely and give evidence from a separate room via a live video link.
Victims Minister Alex Davies-Jones said the new measures were part of efforts to bring down a backlog of Crown Court cases, which stood at 80,098 at the end of March. According to the charity Rape Crisis England and Wales, 15,373 of those cases relate to sexual offences.
The charity welcomed the plan, stating it would introduce several vital reforms it had been requesting for years.

Videos circulating on social media show the moment a 750ft-long cargo ship crashed into a fishing vessel in waters near Singapore.
The sailors were heard screaming as the larger vessel slammed into the smaller one. Sea water poured in, submerging the deck, and smoke was seen rising out of the fishing vessel.
The incident reportedly took place on 17 September in the Singapore Strait, and it remains unclear whether anyone was injured or killed, and what caused the collision.
The straits of Singapore and Malacca form one of the busiest maritime corridors in the world, carrying nearly 40 per cent of all global trade.

A four-year-old golden retriever tried to play with an intruder during a break-in in San Diego, California.
Homeowner Dante Rowley watched the incident unfold with his family in real-time when his fiancé, Stephanie Calderon, received an alert from her Ring app. It happened as they were boarding a flight back home from Chicago on 5 September.
Instead of chasing the man away, the family's dog, Nash, was keen to make friends, bringing the man a toy.
When police arrived at the door, the pooch appeared to believe they were there for one reason – playtime.
On the post of the video Mr Rowley wrote that "Nash is the worst guard dog."
Footage from outside the house later showed police officers placing the suspect in handcuffs.

Footage released by the City of Minneapolis on Wednesday shows what happened when officers reached the ninth floor.
The shooter, Carlton Johnson, emerged from behind a corner and drew a handgun just as officers were checking on a victim lying in the hallway.
Johnson and Officer Yahye Ahmed, who was armed with a rifle, exchanged fire while Officer Joseph Michnowski ran for cover.
“I took some rounds,” Michnowski said into his radio after running down the hallway, passing another person sprawled on the ground.

Eight people were rescued from the assisted living facility.
Six patients, one staff member and a neighbour who tried to help, were hospitalised with minor injuries, the Glendale Fire Department said.

Images and CCTV of Noah Wood’s “last movements” have been revealed as the search continues for the three-year-old who has been missing since 3pm on Tuesday.
The 20-second-long footage shows Noah, who is mildly autistic, partially deaf and will not respond to his name being called, playing on a merry-go-round.
Noah is seen touching the carousel before spinning it and running around it as it turns.
The release comes as police cordoned off a lake near where he went missing and as his dad urged volunteers “please don’t give up on him”.
Suffolk locals searched throughout the night for Noah who was last seen at a playground in Marrian Close in Brantham. He is said to have run off down an alleyway beside the playground towards a new-build housing estate.

Santa Fe Police released footage of officers on motorcycles – supported by officers on bikes, animal services, drone operators and a “few cowboys” - trying to capture the elusive equine.
The video was set to the Johnny Cash version of, ‘(Ghost) Riders in the Sky’.
The horse was due to appear at the city’s Desfile de La Gente when it decided to take a look around “the beautiful sites of our city” instead, the force said in a Facebook post.
The police department said officers on motorcycles were able to corral the horse on Canyon Road “and the owner was able to trot him back to the parade starting point in time for a quick drink of water before the parade started”.

The ban does not apply to face coverings worn for legitimate reasons, including religious, cultural, health, work, weather or personal safety reasons.

In video from Houston County Sheriff’s Office Keon Dewayne Leonard is seen dislodging one of the rare windows, before locking his hands around the roof of the vehicle and propelling himself out on 3 September.
According to the sheriff’s office, because Leonard was so large, he is 6 feet 7 inches tall and 117kgs, two sets of handcuffs were used.
The 30-year-old was handcuffed behind his back for his trip to the Houston Couty Jail in Crockett but managed to move them to the front while inside the patrol car.
The sheriff’s office said deputies later recaptured Leonard using a Taser.

City of London Police stopped the 23-year-old on 8 September around 4.50pm after he was seen riding through a red light at Bishopsgate.

Sussex Police said it responded to reports that an intoxicated man in a car was verbally abusing the public in Lewes Road, Brighton, around 4.50pm on Sunday.

When officers tried to speak to the man, he attempted to flee, driving the wrong way down Morley Street, colliding with several vehicles.
A 41-year-old man was detained at the scene.

When Mr Sherzad arrived home from work around 10:15pm on 27 March, Tajzai chased him onto Abbey Orchard Street and fatally stabbed him.
