- India on June 28 indicated it remained open to reviving the long-stalled Assumption Island project in Seychelles if the island nation’s government wished to revisit it, even as Prime Minister Narendra Modi became the first recipient of a presidential award instituted only days before his arrival for a state visit.
Asked whether Assumption Island figured in discussions between the two sides, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said the issue had not been raised during the visit but stressed that New Delhi would be receptive if Victoria sought to revive cooperation.

The deceased, Arun (38), Sandeep (32) and Chand (40), were residents of Valmiki Basti in Indira Jheel, Sultanpuri. Their families allege that the factory handled toxic material but did not inform the workers of the risks, nor provided them with safety equipment or helped to rescue them.

- How Adani lobbied the US DOJ: Former CJI among the defence experts

- Description
- In November 2024, the US Department of Justice indicted Gautam Adani on charges of bribery and fraud, alleging that Adani, his nephew Sagar Adani and Adani Green CEO Vneet Jaain had paid or promised over 250 million dollars in bribes to Indian state electricity officials to get them to sign solar power purchase agreements with Adani Green. By May 2026, the case was dropped.
A new court filing reveals that Adani's lawyers submitted nearly 500 pages of arguments and expert opinions to the DOJ between February and April 2026 to drop the case, including from a former Chief Justice of India whose identity has not been disclosed.
The filing also surfaces other threads — Adani's legal team's ties to a Trump adviser whose involvement was denied by all parties, and a private meeting between Adani and Donald Trump Jr.

Admiral Arun Prakash, former Naval chief of staff and now a commentator, does not think so. “Mr Trump is not just an unpredictable person. He can be quite intimidating also as we've seen in the past.
So one can understand our statesmen and diplomats treading with caution. But the fact remains that Indian lives have been put at risk. We've lost three seafarers,” he said in a podcast discussion with Sidharth Bhatia. “When Indian lives are jeopardised at sea, the mother country has to raise its voice.” India, he said, tends to “punch below its weight.”
He said that the specific point was not made and “therefore there was no comment called for by the Americans.”

- Your passport is not a document of your citizenship.
Yes, that's what officials at the Ministry of External Affairs have said: a passport is a travel document, not proof of citizenship.
This statement has revived a long-standing question: Which documents can conclusively establish Indian citizenship?
The remarks from MEA came on Passport Seva Diwas, when the ministry highlighted the scale of its passport operation saying that it delivered around 1.5 crore passports and related services in 2025.
Now this issue has surfaced many queries. One is whether a person excluded from the election commission’s Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls could rely on their possession of an Indian Passport to establish citizenship.
The remarks have drawn attention because Indian law does not provide a simple answer to the relationship between passports and citizenship
Under section 6(2)(a) of the Passports Act, 1967, passport authorities are required to refus...

How much credit should Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif and Field Marshal Munir get for the Memorandum of Understanding between Iran and USA? What is the Pakistani view of the outstanding issues that could still undermine the Memorandum of Understanding? What does President Pezeshkian’s visit to Pakistan yesterday signify? And how does Pakistan view the contradictory comments from America and Iran after the Burgenstock meeting? Those are the key issues Karan Thapar raised with Najam Sethi, Pakistan’s former caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab and the Founding Editor of The Friday Times.

Following The Wire’s report, the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) took suo motu cognisance of the matter and sought responses from the Uttar Pradesh Police and prison authorities. The Gautam Buddh Nagar Police later claimed that the minor had told officers he was 19 years old at the time of his arrest. However, the minor, his family, and his lawyer dispute this claim.
