“There were previous incarnations, (of using such language), but we've never seen such an escalation of it in recent times,” says Dilip Cherian, former journalist turned Image Guru who has been an observer of the public and political scene for a long time.

- A delegation of activists, civil society members and Opposition representatives on Monday, 28 September, submitted an intimation to the Delhi Police for a protest at Jantar Mantar on 2 October, Gandhi Jayanti.
The proposed demonstration seeks action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over what organisers allege are irregularities in the electoral process and electoral rolls.
The six-member delegation included AISA president Neha Bora, activist Yogendra Yadav, senior advocate Prashant Bhushan, social activist Nikhil Dey, academic Nandita Narain and RJD MP Manoj Jha.
The organisers said the protest was being held “in defence of India’s democratic integrity” and urged citizens to participate. They also criticised what they described as restrictions on spaces for public protest and said they had followed the due procedure in submitting the intimation to the police.
