Rescue efforts are continuing at Asaman Tamfoe, a farming and mining community in the Atewa East District of the Eastern Region, following the collapse of a mining pit that trapped 11 illegal miners.

Seven of the 11 miners have been confirmed dead after rescuers worked through the night to retrieve their remains from beneath the debris.
Personnel from the Anyinam District Police Command, Ghana National Ambulance Service, NADMO and community members remain at the scene as efforts continue to locate and rescue the four miners still believed to be trapped underground.
