- Andy Burnham is almost guaranteed to be the next Prime Minister of the United Kingdom after an overwhelming 322 Labour MPs nominated him to take over from Sir Keir Starmer.
The extraordinary total means that there are now only 81 Labour MPs left who could mathematically nominate another contender—which is the absolute minimum required just to get onto the leadership ballot. With the numbers stacked completely in his favor, Burnham's path to 10 Downing Street appears virtually unstoppable. #AndyBurnham #UKPolitics #labourparty

In response to a second day of renewed US attacks, Iran launched retaliatory strikes targeting Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar early on Thursday.
According to US Central Command (CENTCOM), the American strikes were specifically aimed at degrading Iran’s ability to “threaten freedom of navigation” through the crucial Strait of Hormuz—one of the world's most important shipping routes.

Immigration isn't a devolved issue, and supporters of the scheme say it helps them into life in Wales and helps with community cohesion.
Opponents say that money should be spent on things like the NHS or education system in Wales, and that is something that attracts migrants to Wales.
Between 2019 and 2025 the Welsh government spent £63m, equivalent to 0.05% of its total budget on the policy.
Reform UK led a debate about it in the Senedd this week, calling for it to be scrapped. Despite support from the Conservatives, they lost.
Here's a recap of the debate:

- Keir Starmer has resigned as Prime Minister, plunging Downing Street into a transition of power, but if you’re expecting a General Election, think again, because under the UK system, the government remains, but the leader changes.
Here is exactly what happens right now:
Step one is the caretaker phase. Starmer will manage day-to-day affairs temporarily, unless an interim Prime Minister, most likely Deputy PM David Lammy, is appointed by the King to steady the ship.
Next, Labour’s ruling National Executive Committee will meet immediately to set the rules for a lightning leadership race.
Aspiring successors face a brutal first hurdle: they must secure nominations from at least twenty percent of Labour MPs, that is eighty-one signatures, just to get on the ballot.
If it’s a contested race, the final choice falls to Labour’s nationwide membership.
Once a winner emerges, Starmer will visit Buckingham Palace to formally hand his resignation to Kin...

Jay Bayliss was racing a friend at 80mph when he lost control and crashed. However, due to brain injuries he sustained in the wreck, courts ruled him "unfit to stand trial"—meaning he was deemed too unwell to face a proper criminal prosecution.
Instead of a standard sentence, a judge was forced to grant him an "absolute discharge." In layman's terms, this means the court issued zero penalty, allowing him to walk away completely free without prison time, a criminal record, and crucially, he was even allowed to keep his driving licence.
Sophie's heartbroken family have now launched a petition calling for legal reform to stop other families from enduring the same pain.
