- It's 150 years since the first mass bicycle ride took place, here in Paris. More than 100 people pedalled from Paris to Versailles on vélocipèdes – early versions of the bicycle – and the fastest among them took about an hour to finish. On Dec 10, a group of enthusiasts are setting out to do the same bike ride. One of them is the researcher David Herlihy who spoke to RFI's Angela Diffley.
