- The 94th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans will take place on the 13th and 14th of June. One of the top drivers at this event, which is considered to be the world's greatest and most famous endurance race, is Toyota Racing's Brendon Hartley who has won this iconic race three times and is a four-time world endurance champion. In an interview with RFI English, the 36-year-old New Zealander talks about what make the 24 Hours of Le Mans special.

Bruno Rakedjian is one of 20 members of Les Radis Actifs, a community veg scheme on the outskirts of Paris in Châtillon, taking part in an agricultural research project run by Ocapi. When collecting his weekly veg, he drops off his urine, which their organic farmer uses to help his hedgerows grow.

By extracting and analysing DNA from the remains of 13 soldiers exhumed in Vilnius, Lithuania in 2002, a team led by Nicolas Rascovan detected the bacteria responsible for paratyphoid fever and relapsing fever, diseases that may have proved as deadly as the Russian winter itself.

- On the DRC, President Emmanuel Macron said that after brokering a peace deal that failed to end the fighting, the United States has imposed sanctions on the Rwandan army and others it accused of fuelling the conflict. Macron expressed reservations about following suit. "I think that if everyone is now rushing to follow the Americans’ lead in isolating Rwanda, there is little chance of persuading Rwanda to adopt a cooperative policy," he said. "Personally, I have more faith in the value of dialogue with the two main leaders."

- On Friday the 13th of April, 2029, a giant asteroid will pass really close to Earth. The asteroid which measures approximately 340 metres in diameter will be at less than 32000km from the Earth's surface which is closer than some satellites in the geosynchronous orbit. Although it doesn't pose any immediate risk to Earth, the extremely close approach in 2029 provides a unique opportunity for scientific research using ground-based telescopes and space missions.

- Gaspard Monge transformed mathematics in the 18th century with two foundational discoveries. His method of descriptive geometry — representing three-dimensional objects in two dimensions — became the mathematical language behind every technical drawing and engineering blueprint ever made. He later pioneered differential geometry, giving mathematicians the tools to study curves and surfaces in three-dimensional space. On Napoleon's Egyptian campaign, he also became the first person to scientifically explain the desert mirage, correctly deducing that layers of heat above the sand bent light to create the illusion of water. His name has been on the Eiffel Tower since 1889.
