For centuries, porcelain memorial tablets buried alongside the dead preserved the stories of lives once lived during Korea's Joseon Dynasty. Now, after spending years overseas, ten of these rare and remarkably well-preserved artifacts have finally returned home.
Cha Yun-kyung reports.
On a white porcelain tablet, characters are meticulously inscribed in deep blue cobalt pigment.
It is the comprehensive record of the life, character, family lineage, and funeral rites of Yi Jin-geom, who served as the Minister of Culture and Education during the late Joseon Dynasty.
The epitaph was composed by Yi Deok-su, the Minister of Interior, and the calligraphy was brushed by the deceased’s son, Yi Gwang-sa, who was one of the most renowned calli...

Summer in Korea isn't the hottest in the world, but the heat and humidity can still be relentless. Today, we beat the heat with air conditioners and ice-cold drinks. But centuries ago, long before air conditioning, how did Koreans stay cool? Well, they wore the breeze itself: a breathable fabric called “mosi.”
Mosi is a traditional Korean fabric woven from the fibers of the ramie plant. At first glance, ramie looks like an ordinary stalk. But hidden beneath its outer layer are incredibly strong and delicate fibers.

Zelenskyy said that a proposal for Putin to meet at the G7 Summit had been submitted to the leaders of the U.S., France, and Russia, but there had been no clear answer from Moscow.
Later on the same day, Zelenskyy said he had spoken to U.S. President Donald Trump and suggested holding a meeting in the U.S., in a format that would make it difficult for Putin to reject.
He also said that the international community should increase pressure on Russia if Putin refuses to attend talks.
Earlier in June, Putin said he saw no need to meet with Zelenskyy.

1. Global oil prices fell after the U.S. and Iran announced a ceasefire deal. But many energy experts say it could take months before oil and gas supplies return to normal. Why is this, and does this mean consumers will have to wait longer before seeing lower oil prices and costs for food and other goods?

While the monthly increase slowed, export prices were nearly 47 percent higher than a year earlier.
Meanwhile, import prices fell 0-point-3 percent for a second consecutive month, as lower international oil prices reduced the cost of imported mining products, coal, and petroleum goods.

We begin this morning with the latest on the peace deal between the U.S. and Iran.
Details of the MOU that's going to be signed on Friday have not yet been released, but both sides are already showing some splits over some details.
Our Kim Bo-kyoung starts us off.
U.S. President Donald Trump has said a preliminary deal to end the war with Iran has already been signed, and suggested that the details of the agreement are set to be published "pretty soon."
Such remarks came, while he was speaking on Monday alongside French President Emmanuel Macron ahead of this week's G7 meeting in France.
"I'm very happy to say it's signed. The deal's all signed. this is a very powerful document, and I want it to be released. So probably pretty soon, I would say after, sometime after Friday."
Though Trump says the agreement has been reached, differences between t...

Unification Minister Chung Dong-young says Seoul must continue pursuing dialogue with North Korea despite what he described as Pyongyang's "harsh, heavy and cold silence."
Marking the 26th anniversary of the June 15 Inter-Korean Joint Declaration on Monday, Chung said the task facing the government is to transform a "hostile two-state relationship" into one of peaceful coexistence.
In a Facebook post, Chung pointed to the Lee Jae Myung administration's efforts over the past year to improve ties with the North, but said those initiatives had yet to receive a response from Pyongyang.
Still, he stressed that Seoul cannot give up on dialogue or stop taking steps toward peace, saying "it is always darkest before the dawn."

스포츠: 북중미 월드컵 업데이트, 이정후 MLB서 다시 맹활약, 한국 선수 LPGA 준우승
Time now to take a look at what's been happening in the world of sports.
For that, we have our sports editor Paul Neat joining us in the studio.
Hello, Paul.
Hello.
The 2026 World Cup is barely a week old, but already it's been very eventful.
Right. Even with only half of the first group stage games played.
Already, there have been some surprise or milestone results.
For instance, Australia beat the much-fancied Turkiye 2-0 for only their second-ever group opener win.
And Nestory Irankunda, who got the first goal, became Australia's youngest-ever World Cup goalscorer at 20 years and 125 days.
Scotland beat Haiti 1-0. It was Scotland's first appearance in a Wor...

Tomorrow, Seoul's daytime highs are expected to soar to around 33 degrees Celsius, with a chance of setting another new high for the year just one day after today's record.
In particular, many areas in the western regions will see feels-like highs climb to around 31 degrees.
With the risk of heat-related illnesses rising, it’s important to take extra care of your health.
Following today's sunshine, most parts of the country will enjoy clear skies again tomorrow.
However, the strong sunshine will push UV levels into the "very high" range in many parts of the country.
And ozone concentrations are expected to be elevated in many areas.
Especially, northern Gyeonggi-do Province will see "very bad" levels.
Tomorrow, morning temperatures will be slightly above seasonal norms.
Seoul will start the day at 21 degrees, Daejeon 19, and Busan 20 degrees.
By the afternoon, Seoul wil...

Welcome to Within The Frame, where we bring the most pressing issues across the globe into focus. I'm Kim Mokyeon.
After 106 days of conflict, the United States, Israel, and Iran have reached a ceasefire agreement, bringing an end to the war in the Middle East and easing fears of a broader crisis.
The reopening of the Strait of Hormuz has sent oil prices lower and lifted global markets.
Korea’s KOSPI has surged back above the 8,000 mark, with some even eyeing the 9,000 level.
But with the first FOMC meeting under new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh approaching, investors are now watching whether this rally can continue, and how interest and exchange rates, and global capital flows may shift in the months ahead.
To discuss the outlook, we are joined by Shin Se Don, a professor of Business Economics at Sookmyung...

The South Korean government for its part says it's closely monitoring the situation unfolding between the U.S. and Iran with priority placed on the safety of Korean ships that remain stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
Cho Young-eun files this report.
Following the breakthrough agreement between Washington and Tehran, the Korean government is expected to focus its diplomatic efforts on ensuring the safe passage of Korean vessels stranded in the Strait of Hormuz.
As it remains unclear whether the strategic waterway will immediately return to normal operations, the government said on Monday that officials are cautiously monitoring the situation.
The vessels have been anchored in relatively safe nearby waters, including ports across Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, a total of 24 South Korean vesse...
