- BTS 부산 콘서트, 그 뜨거운 현장
The southeastern port city of Busan turned completely purple going into the weekend, as BTS brought their world tour to the city on June 12 and 13. Not only was the concert venue packed with fans, but airports, traditional markets, and neighborhood streets were buzzing with ARMYs from around the world. Joining us live from Busan today is CedarBough Saeji, Assistant Professor of Korean and East Asian Studies at Pusan National University, and an avid fan of BTS to tell us what the atmosphere was like on the ground. Hello Professor Saeji!
Q1. Professor Saeji, Busan must have felt very different from its usual self during those two concert days.
What was the atmosphere like, and how would you describe the excitement you witnessed firsthand?
Q2. You attended the concert yourself, and we've heard that getting tickets was incredibly difficult. How did you manage to secure a ticket for the sh...

- 거리에서 하나 되는 한국의 월드컵 응원 문화
Through a single photo at a time, we take a closer look at culture in Korea. This is K-Culture in Photos.
Today's keyword is “eung-won”, which means “cheering,” “support,” or “encouragement.” When Koreans hear the word, many think of scenes like this. At K-pop concerts, fans wave colorful light sticks and sing along to support their favorite artists from first and second generation stars to today’s global groups like BLACKPINK, aespa, and TOMORROW X TOGETHER. Cheering also appears in everyday life. On Korea’s college entrance exam day, students are greeted by younger classmates, teachers, and parents, all sending encouragement before one of the most important tests of their lives. And now, as the World Cup gets underway, football stadiums around the world are filling with supporters ready to cheer for their teams.
As the World Cup begins, one Korean tradition is returning: ...

As I just mentioned, we're going to cover the BTS concert in Busan, by connecting with someone in Busan, but before that, Walter give us the facts on the group's big celebration over the weekend and what the occasion was for!
BTS met with their fandom ARMY through their 'ARIRANG' world tour concert in Busan on Saturday, which also marked the 13th anniversary of their debut.
Actually, they held two concerts, on Friday and Saturday, that drew more than 110,000 fans in total.
The Busan show marked the second Korean stop of the 'ARIRANG' world tour, which began in Goyang in April, and BTS' first solo concert in Busan in three years and eight months since 'Yet To Come in Busan' in 2022. The concerts were especially meaningful for members Jimin and Jung Kook , as Busan is their hometown.
After wrapping up the Busan concerts, BTS will continue the ...

AI technology is reshaping healthcare, changing the way hospitals monitor and care for patients.
One hospital in Korea is using wearable devices and radar systems to keep track of patients' conditions, including vital signs and sleep patterns.
Cha Yun-kyung reports.
A sensor positioned at the entrance of a hospital room uses facial recognition to grant access.
Inside, patients can control their environment, including lighting, temperature, and curtains, using only their voice.
The core feature of this smart hospital room is the ability to continuously monitor a patient’s condition without requiring a physical visit from the medical team.
Radar sensors installed in the patient’s room and restroom detect movement to identify potential emergencies, such as falls.

The U.S. government has ordered AI company Anthropic to shut off all foreign access to its most powerful models including Mythos after researchers discovered a way to bypass the system’s safety guardrails. In an unprecedented move, the Commerce Department directed Anthropic to suspend access to its Fable 5 and Mythos 5 models for any foreign national anywhere in the world. Anthropic cut off all customers globally to ensure compliance, but said it disagreed that a narrow jailbreak should trigger the recall. Amazon researchers had conducted the jailbreak research that revealed the vulnerability and were in contact with the U.S. government before the order was issued. We are now stepping firmly into an early summer pattern with strong heat continuing to build across the country. Under mostly sunny skies, temperatures will rise quickly today with plenty of sunshine. That said, UV levels will be very high in most parts of the country. Sun safety is a must during the day.
However, not everyone will stay completely dry today. Between this afternoon and early evening, passing rain is in the forecast for Jeolla-do and parts of Gangwon-do Province, with 5 to 10 millimeters expected.
And this afternoon, except for the east coast regions, the rest of the country will see highs in the thirties. Seoul gets up to 32 degrees, Gwangju to 31 degrees. Daegu at 30 degrees.
The hot weather should continue throughout the week, with daytime highs hovering above 30 degrees in many areas under bright sunny skies.

Swiss voters have rejected a proposal to cap the country’s population at ten million.
In a referendum on Sunday, 55 percent voted against the measure in a result that relieved businesses and preserved the country’s free movement agreement with the European Union.
The right-wing Swiss People’s Party had championed the cap, arguing that rapid population growth was straining public services and pushing up rents. Switzerland’s population currently stands at 9.1 million and is projected to reach ten million by the early 2040s with foreigners making up nearly 28 percent of residents. Business groups warned a yes vote would have limited access to foreign workers and damaged the economy.

Residents initially reported the changes out of concern they might be harmed by fumes from decaying sea life.

After days of rapidly escalating tensions in the Middle East, Washington says a diplomatic framework with Tehran could soon be within reach — with media reports suggesting a possible signing ceremony in Europe as early as this weekend.
Our Moon Hye-ryeon has the details.
U.S. President Trump on Thursday swung from threatening a third straight day of strikes on Iran to calling them off entirely, suggesting a deal may be in the works.
Speaking from the Oval Office, Trump claimed a breakthrough had been reached on a preliminary memorandum of understanding.
"We just made a great settlement of the war with Iran, and we're going to be, subject to finalization of documents, which should get done over the next few days. We probably have a signing, maybe in Europe."

- ECB, 추가 긴축 가능성 시사… "필요 시 7월도 금리 인상"
The European Central Bank says it may not be done hiking rates just yet.
ECB Governing Council member Joachim Nagel said the bank could raise rates again at its July meeting, if the fallout from the Middle East war demands it.
He argued that rising energy costs are feeding into broader inflation, making Thursday's quarter-point rate hike unavoidable, even if the conflict cools quickly.
The move made the ECB the first major central bank to raise rates in response to the Iran war.
Markets are already pricing in two more quarter-point increases, in September and December.

The Bank of Korea has shared intentions to raise rates to tackle inflation while the Finance Ministry seeks to stabilize a slowing job market.
Kim Do-yeon reports.
The Korean economy is showing strong headline growth, but top policymakers are sounding the alarm over a growing crisis in everyday livelihoods.
During the Bank of Korea's 76th-anniversary address on Friday, Governor Shin Hyun-song highlighted the unexpectedly strong first-quarter economic growth.
However, he warned that the prolonged Middle East conflict is keeping consumer prices high.
Citing these external shocks, a volatile currency, and surging household debt from leveraged investing, Shin signaled that tighter monetary policy is unavoidable.
"Therefore, with an emphasis on price stability, there is a need to raise interest rates without delay."
