Our Shin So-eun explains.
Following the electronic signing of an interim agreement, the United States and Iran will formally sign their armistice memorandum of understanding in Bürgenstock, Switzerland, on Friday.
According to Swiss authorities, the venue was moved from Geneva to the secluded alpine location with a mountain resort overlooking Lake Lucerne in central Switzerland.

Our Baek Ju-hee reports.
Korea's consumer inflation will hover around 3 percent in the second half of this year, according to the Bank of Korea's biannual inflation review report released on Wednesday.
Core inflation is also forecast to reach the mid-to-high 2 percent range.
Even looking ahead to next year, the central bank expects both headline and core inflation to continuously exceed its target stability level of 2 percent.
"It will likely take a long time for energy supply chains to normalize to previous levels and for global oil prices to stabilize."
Taking a closer look at this year's inflation path, consumer prices started the year stable at 2 percent.

And sometimes, it's needed without warning. Sudden downpours are a common part of summer. Strong winds and heavy rain can send people hurrying for cover, while umbrellas sway and struggle against the weather. In moments like these, having one nearby can make all the difference. President Trump attended the event on his eightieth birthday without incident alongside senior Republican lawmakers and donors. The quake was centered about 43 kilometers east-southeast of Palu at a depth of ten kilometers.
Strong shaking sent residents fleeing into open areas, and several hospitals evacuated patients outdoors. At least 32 people were injured, including eight seriously, in the hardest-hit Sigi regency, and more than 100 were displaced.
More than 55 aftershocks followed throughout the day. In 2018, an earthquake and a tsunami killed more than 4,000 people in the same region.

India temporarily blocked the messaging app Telegram on Tuesday, saying that it was used to leak the questions for the national medical entrance exam.
The ban runs until June 22nd and comes after the government cancelled the medical entrance test and voided the results of more than 2 million students last month over allegations its questions had been leaked. Telegram said the ban punishes more than 150 million ordinary users in India rather than those who leaked the materials, adding the leaks had simply moved to other apps. A digital rights group called the measure a disproportionate response. Google and Apple received orders to temporarily de-list Telegram from their app stores.

Australia’s weather bureau gave a strong warning on Tuesday that the El Nino pattern formed in the tropical Pacific could intensify in the second half of 2026, becoming one of the strongest in seven decades. Forecasters expect the event to bring excessive rain to the Americas and hot dry conditions across Asia where crop planting is already being disrupted. Sea surface temperatures in the region have exceeded El Nino thresholds and around half of the forecasting models indicate the event could peak among the highest levels observed since 1950. The pattern is particularly damaging to Australia which is one of the world’s largest exporters of wheat, sugar and beef.

And this afternoon, most regions will see afternoon temperatures climb above 30 degrees Celsius. Seoul and Daegu will get up to 31 degrees Celsius, and Gwangju will get up to 30 degrees. But the combination of heat and humidity will make it feel even warmer and more uncomfortable.
We are looking at a chance of more sudden rain tomorrow, then Jeju and the south coast will see more rain early this week as the monsoon season is right around the corner. Meanwhile, the summer heat continues, so take care!

As the United States considers establishing a fund of 300 billion U.S. dollars for Iran, attention is turning to how South Korean companies could participate in rebuilding efforts in the country.
Our Cho Young-eun reports.
South Korea’s Foreign Ministry on Tuesday commented on reports that Washington is reviewing plans for an Iran reconstruction fund, saying that the proposal should be viewed within the framework of ongoing U.S.-Iran negotiations and that details would depend on the outcome of those talks.
He added that the South Korean government hopes the two sides will reach a final agreement, including on Iran's nuclear program, for the swift restoration of peace and stability in the Middle East.
The Foreign Ministry also said South Kor...

"I think this was an important diplomatic achievement by President Trump and his team. To be clear, this is an agreement to get an agreement." "But then the hard part starts. There's going to be a 60-day process of intense negotiations on other elements of a final agreement, especially the dispos...

North Korea has condemned a recent large-scale live-fire exercise by Japan's Ground Self-Defense Force calling it a "test of reinvasion capability".
In an article on this Tuesday the ruling party newspaper Rodong Sinmun claimed Japan's "counterstrike capability" was a preemptive strike capability.
It also said the inclusion of long-range missiles and high-speed glide weapons in the early June drill implies Japan has ushered in active preparations for preemptive strikes.
Also making reference to Japan's annual defense white paper that describes North Korea as an "imminent threat" the newspaper added the target of the recent Japanese training was clear.
