Korean chip giant SK hynix has officially scrapped its plan to list its U.S. subsidiary, Solidigm, on the American stock market.
Solidigm had been preparing for the initial public offering to fund its expansion in the growing AI memory chip sector.
However, SK hynix on Friday cited recent financial market volatility and a sharp drop in semiconductor stock prices as the primary reasons for the withdrawal.
There was also strong pushback from shareholders and Korean regulators, who warned that a duplicate listing could hurt the parent company's value.
Despite the halt, SK hynix emphasized that Solidigm's growth potential remains strong, adding that it will explore alternative ways to secure investment funds.

The U.S. government is tightening Ebola-related travel restrictions, requiring all air passengers entering the country to declare whether they have visited the Democratic Republic of Congo in the previous 21 days.
According to a U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention memo obtained by Reuters on Thursday, the new requirement takes effect November 3, with travelers required to submit digital or paper declarations.
The CDC first introduced restrictions on travelers from the Congo in May, before extending them to U.S. citizens in July.
Similar measures are already in place for foreign nationals who have visited Uganda or South Sudan within the previous three weeks.

U.S officials told the Wall Street Journal the satellite system was working more normally on Thursday, though some in Ukraine said it had not been fully restored. The speed cap, ordered by Musk had left some Ukrainian drones and interceptors unable to stay connected during Russian attacks. The White House and SpaceX disagree over whether Musk acted alone. Thursday's Monetary Policy Board meeting saw a unanimous decision to hold the benchmark interest rate steady at 3-point-0 percent.
All seven members voted for the pause after two consecutive quarter-point hikes in July and August.
This leaves the rate gap with the U.S. unchanged at one percentage point, based on the upper end of the U.S. rate range.
Despite strong domestic growth and inflation remaining high at around three percent, Governor Shin Hyun-song stressed the need to monitor uncertainties at home and abroad and assess the impact of the previous two rate hikes.

BTS leader RM (Kim Namjoon) has made his debut as a curator! For the first time, he’s bringing his personal art collection, built up over many years, to a museum, and he’s been directly involved in organizing the exhibition. Titled “RM x SFMOMA: Between You and Me”, the exhibition is now on view at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. We are now connected with América Castillo, one of the SFMOMA co-curators who worked with RM to put this exhibit together. Welcome!
Q1. I imagine things have been very busy since the exhibition opened. Could you give us an introduction to the exhibition? And what is the meaning behind the title, “Between You and Me”?
Q2-1. It’s quite unusual for a museum to organize an exhibition centered on a K-pop artist’s personal art collection. What led SFMOMA to take an interest in RM’s collection and approach him ...

- Microsoft says China-linked hackers used AI tool in global attacks; same tool seen in Korean financial breaches
MS “중국 연계 해커, AI 도구로 글로벌 사이버 공격 한국 금융기관 유출에도 동일 도구 사용”
Microsoft on Wednesday revealed that a Chinese state-aligned hacking group known as Storm-0940 used an AI-driven tool to launch cyberattacks against hundreds of organizations worldwide.
Starting as early as September, the group employed an open-source AI penetration-testing framework called ARTEX to accelerate its operations.
Microsoft assessed that Storm-0940 was responsible for compromising the U.S. IT services firm ConnectWise, allowing the attackers to abuse trusted application identities and rapidly gain privileged access in multiple customer environments.
The same ARTEX framework was also used in recent personal-data breaches targeting Korean financial institutions.
Microsoft urged affected compani...

“Bukangi,” the shark stranded in Busan’s North Port area since last month, returned to the canal this morning, just a day after a third attempt to guide her out to sea.
Authorities are now preparing to try again.
Our Shin So-eun has the latest.
A third attempt to guide a stranded shark out of Busan’s North Port canal appeared successful on Wednesday, but it returned on Thursday morning, prompting authorities to prepare another effort to lead it out to sea.
According to authorities, the female dusky shark was spotted back inside the canal near Marina Bridge on Thursday morning.
They suspect that Bukangi squeezed through a gap beneath the first barrier net, but a second barrier stopped her from moving farther into the canal, leaving her confined between two nets about 30 meters apart.
Authorities plan to res...

This is the WORLD NOW.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to restart U.S.-brokered peace talks with Ukraine as early as next month. This comes after he met U.S. envoy Steve Witkoff in St. Petersburg on Wednesday.
The Kremlin said the three-way talks could be held in Abu Dhabi on or after November 10th, and would focus on security guarantees for both countries once the war ends. The last round of peace talks took place back in February. Witkoff also met on Tuesday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Norway. A Kremlin aide said Moscow was not entirely satisfied with the results of those talks.
Russia has released a retired American teacher who spent more than four years behind bars accused of fighting as a mercenary for Ukraine. President Donald Trump said he had asked Putin to free the 74-year-old Stephen Hubbard, and that the U.S. did not have to give...

A shark nicknamed “Bukangi,” which became a local celebrity in Busan, returned to the canal this morning after breaking through a barrier net,.. just a day after authorities attempted to guide it out of the area for the third time.
Our Shin So-eun has the latest.
The third attempt to guide a stranded shark out of Busan's North Port canal initially succeeded on Wednesday, but the success was short-lived.
According to the Busan Infrastructure Corporation, the female dusky shark lingered near the waterfront park after leaving the canal and, at around 11 PM, crossed a barrier net near the canal entrance.
By Thursday morning, Bukangi had crossed all three layers of netting installed to prevent her return, undoing nine hours of work to guide her out of the canal.
Rescuers changed their approach for the third attempt after two earlier e...
