- We are starting out mild and muggy with temperatures in the 70’s. Highs this afternoon will reach the mid-90’s with heat index values between 110 and 112 degrees. There is a HEAT ADVISORY in place from 11 AM until 8 PM. A stray shower or two will be possible this afternoon, but most will stay dry. Lows tonight will be humid in the mid-70’s. We stay dangerously hot through the weekend with highs in the mid-to-upper 90’s and heat index values over 110 degrees. More heat alerts are likely. Rain chances stay low through Friday before increasing a little bit this weekend to near 30-40%. This pattern sticks around into next week. In the tropics we are tracking three areas. The first is Cristobal which is expected to weaken into a remnant low in the next 12 hours over the northern Atlantic. The second area is Invest AL 92 in the central tropical Atlantic.
