Coming from a minority affairs minister, this wasn’t just denial. It was a blatant distortion of ground realities, where hate violence and institutional discrimination have been on the rise.
Over the past decade since the BJP came to power, India’s minorities, especially Muslims and Christian converts from marginalised communities, have faced the brunt of vigilante attacks by Hindutva extremi...

- Amid allegations that the CBSE went out of its way to favour a private firm bidding to run its on-screen marking (OSM) system that was revealed to contain vulnerabilities after class 12 students took their finals, the Union government has ordered an inquiry into the board’s procurement practices. With students and parents also reporting various issues with the OSM system, the government on Tuesday transferred the board’s chairman and its secretary out of the Union education ministry as well.
No action has been taken against education minister Dharmendra Pradhan, even as teenagers and students were the ones who pointed out the deficiencies in the system.
