Lewis Palmer faced off against Liberty in the preliminary game and won 4-1. Chaparral beat Chatfield in their preliminary 2-0.
The final game between Lewis Palmer and Chaparral finished with a Chaparral win, 4-2.

- When it comes to snow and ice, Inland Deicing Services has been taking care of airplanes in Colorado Springs since 2002.
The first station for the company works from the fall to spring seasons deicing airplanes. The deicing process occurs when frozen or semi-frozen contaminants, such as snow, sleet and hail, come in contact with an aircraft's surface. An event can also occur when temperatures drop and the dew point is within range of the temperature.
IDS uses multiple propylene glycol fluids to remove ice from planes. They all serve different purposes, such as removing ice and creating a barrier so ice cannot form.
Inland Deicing Services has 30 stations worldwide. The Colorado Springs location deiced 333 flights and used approximately 35,000 gallons of fluid during the 2025 season.

Kids had the opportunity to visit various activities around the studio that helped them to reflect on each principle.

Held inside a former courtroom at the Colorado Springs Pioneers Museum, the naturalization ceremony welcomed people from 14 countries, serving as a stark contrast to immigration hurdles others are facing. President Donald Trump and his administration expanded the list Tuesday, adding five more countries to the ban list and 15 more to restricted travel. The ban list also included people traveling on documents issued by the Palestinian Authority.
The move is part of ongoing efforts by the administration to tighten U.S. entry standards for travel and immigration.

Along with “lifelong memories,” the Forest Service has said Christmas tree cutting “improves forest health and reduces fire risk,” according to a past news release. “The permit system is designed to thin carefully chosen, densely populated tree stands that will benefit from having some trees removed. Cutting trees from designated areas will allow the remaining trees to grow larger while creating open areas that provide food for wildlife.”

- During the summer months, five black bear cubs, likely born in January or February, were orphaned, their mothers euthanized after getting dangerously close to humans in the Pikes Peak region.
On Thursday, after a period of rehabilitation, Colorado Parks and Wildlife released the young bears into the wild, hopefully to live long, healthy lives. The cubs were taken to separate release sites in northwestern and southwestern Teller County.
As part of a years-long partnership with Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, two of the cubs have been fitted with GPS ear tag transmitters that will help CPW track their activity, following the bears through their release, the torpor period, into springtime and early adulthood. The tags will transmit data every 10-14 days, officials said.

- Following the longest government shutdown in US history, pantries are focusing on the high demands of their communities. Wildwood Food Pantry serves the communities of Ute Pass and Manitou Springs.
In recent weeks, the pantry has seen an increase in food requests. Wildwood works differently than other pantries by having a Guest Choice system. They offer a menu to their guests of food from which they are able to pick from. Due to their size, Wildwood Food Pantry depends on community contributions to serve their guests and supply the pantry. They also receive help from Westside Cares, a non-profit that provides services to people in need located in Colorado Springs.

- With sunny, 70-degree weather making it feel and look like anything but Christmas in Colorado over the weekend, the city kicked off the holiday season with ice skating, Santa Claus and caroling at Acacia Park in downtown Colorado Springs.
Skate in the Park opened Friday night with carolers and a performance by U.S. Figure Skating junior athletes. On Saturday afternoon, the festivities continued with a holiday character stroll and photo ops with Santa.

- DU hockey traveled to Colorado Springs on Saturday to take on the CC Tigers for Game 2 of this season's Battle for the Gold Pan. The teams met twice this weekend: Friday at Magness Arena and then Saturday at Ed Robson Arena, where DU completed a series sweep.
The Battle for the Gold Pan is the most-played rivalry in college hockey, surpassing Michigan–Michigan State’s 347 matchups last season. The Pioneers have claimed the trophy 19 times, while the Tigers have won it 13 times.
The rivals meet again in February for the second series.

While spectators filled downtown sidewalks, waving small American flags and thanking those who served, a government shutdown that has prevented new funding for several services and programs has left some veterans questioning whether support for the military is reaching Capitol Hill.
With tears in his eyes, 54-year-old Navy veteran Frank Lude said it was his first time attending the In Their Honor Veterans Day Parade, and seeing the community support has restored his lost faith in a country he served for years.

- Día de los Muertos or Día de Muertos is a celebration of life to honor and remember the dead. Known in English as Day of the Dead, the celebration features an ofrenda or alter that holds the pictures of those being remembered. The ofrenda may also hold the favorite food or items of the deceased. Skulls appear often as decor or costumes to acknowledge that there is no fear of death, but finding beauty in the lives of those that lived.
The Gazette had an opportunity to talk to Moni Hernandez. Hernandez is a spokesperson for the event and as the founder of VIVA Digital Marketing is a community partner of the event as well. Hernandez elaborates on the importance of the event.
