- Three people died and two others were injured in a head-on crash Wednesday night near Point Mugu, forcing the closure of both directions of Pacific Coast Highway.
The two vehicles collided about 8:20 p.m. in the southbound lanes of PCH, just south of Mugu Rock, according to the California Highway Patrol. The area is a remote stretch of the scenic roadway along the coast between Oxnard and Malibu.
The three people were pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported for medical treatment, the CHP said.
One person was in critical condition, the other had moderate injuries, according to the Ventura County Fire Department.
The identities of the dead were not released pending notification of family members.

- Authorities seized about 800 pounds of marijuana found hidden inside a boat at Westward Beach in Malibu Saturday morning.
Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies were first on scene to discover the boat that was spotted along the shore. It was unclear if the boat washed ashore or was left there.
ICE agents arrived and took part in the investigation. There were so many bags of marijuana that a front loader was brought in to get it into a truck.
The boat was towed back into the ocean by investigators.
No suspect information was released and no arrests were made.

A group of masked men tied up an Arcadia couple in their home and then robbed them, police said.
The home invasion was reported just after 11 p.m. Thursday in the 1000 block of Singing Wood Drive, where the residents said three or four men entered their home and bound them, Arcadia police Sgt. John Bonomo reported.
The robbers stole items from the home and fled. One of the bound victims was able to get free after the suspects fled and called for help, Bonomo said.
One of the victims sustained minor injuries during the robbery but did not require medical attention, Bonomo added.

- Police are searching for two men who crashed a Lamborghini into a parked car early Thursday morning in West Hollywood and then fled the scene.
The crash occurred just after midnight near the intersection of Romaine Street and North Genesee Avenue, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. N. Rios said.
A witness told investigators the Lamborghini was traveling eastbound on Romaine when the driver lost control and hit a parked car.

The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. at Victory Boulevard, said

The fire -- started by a traffic crash on the southbound Antelope Valley (14) Freeway near the Sierra Highway off-ramp near Placerita Canyon Road -- was reported at 12:47 p.m. Sunday, a Los Angeles County Fire Department dispatcher said. - An alleged DUI suspect rammed a Lost Hills Sheriff's patrol car at the end of a short pursuit, flipped his vehicle over the side of Woolsey Canyon and then fled on foot in Canoga Park Sunday.

Officers went to 7245 Hillside Ave. around 11 p.m. Thursday in response to a call about a dispute between two roommates, one of whom may have been armed, police said.
When officers arrived at the fourth-floor apartment, they met with the suspect, but the encounter quickly deteriorated.

A man was killed and a boy was wounded in a shooting in El Monte, authorities said today.
The shooting was reported at 11:14 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Garvey and Durfee avenues, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department, which is assisting El Monte police with the investigation.
The victims were traveling as rear passengers in a vehicle with two

K-9 scent dogs joined the search to look for any evidence of 5-year old Aramazd Andressian, who was reported missing on the morning of April 22.

- A minivan that was riddled with bullet holes crashed in Panorama City early Friday, leaving police to find the driver fatally shot and three passengers critically injured in a possibly gang-related shooting.
The incident was reported about 2:05 a.m. in the 14700 block of West Plummer Street, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Officers who responded found the van's driver was shot in the head and chest. He was declared dead at the scene, said Los Angeles Police Department Capt. Peter Casey of the Mission Division.
His front passenger was also shot and injured in the wreck and is in critical condition, Casey said.
Two passengers in the back of the van were injured in the crash, the captain said. One suffered a broken back was undergoing surgery Friday morning, and the other suffered a broken wrist. The latter passenger, who was ultimately released from the hospital, will not talk to police, Casey said.

- At around 10pm two women requested the assistance of the Los Angeles County Fire department after their two pet dogs ended up in a deep ravine near Six Flags Magic Mountain. For over 2 hours the fire departmen attempted to rescue the dogs and their owners and even brought in a helicopter to assist with a hoist operation. They decided not to do a hoist and continued to try and access the animals on foot. Eventually the dogs were assisted up the hill and were brought to safety to the elation of their owners. No one was injured in the incident which concluded just after midnight.

Authorities responded to the popular hiking area just before 8 p.m.
Jeremy St. Julian, 18, of Whittier, was hiking with friends when he slipped and fell about 100 feet down a cliff in the Chantry Flat Recreation Area north of Sierra Madre.
The popular football player and student — set to graduate Wednesday evening — was pronounced dead at the scene.
Megan Broussard said she was hiking nearby with two friends when they heard a “loud bang” followed by yells for help.
“I tried going down there but it was too steep,” she said.
A fire department rescue helicopter was called in to help with the recovery effort.

The Cessna 175 crashed around 8:30 p.m. in the area of Ranger Avenue and Whitney Drive, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The aircraft landed just feet away from some homes.

A second-alarm fire heavily damaged a Denny's restaurant in Temple City today, but no one was injured and firefighters prevented the flames from spreading to an adjacent bank in the same building.
Firefighters sent to the 5600 block of Rosemead Boulevard shortly before 3 a.m. extinguished the flames in the single-story structure in about 40 minutes, said county fire Inspector Joey Marron.
A cook inside the restaurant, which was open for business, smelled smoke and called authorities, Marron said. All occupants were evacuated safely, Marron said.
