- A suspect was released on K500 police bail after he was arrested and charged for allegedly stealing more than K12,000 by fraud.
Southern Highlands Provincial Police Commander, Chief Inspector Daniel Yangen, says the suspect was arrested and charged with one count of stealing under Section 4-0-6 (a) of the P-N-G Criminal Code, Chapter 262.
Mr. Yangen says the 41-year-old suspect is from Pira village in the Kagua Erave District of the Southern Highlands province.
Police allege that between 23rd of June to 26th of August, 2020 the suspect gave his Kundu Card to a finance company operating in Mendi, Southern Highlands and obtained a loan of K12,624.00.
Police allege the suspect applied for a new Kundu Card without informing the finance company and this affected his loan repayments.
The finance company lodged a formal police complaint at the Provincial Fraud Unit.

- The Port Moresby General Hospital is charging extra fees for patients wanting to access its private ward - Ward 8.
A circular was issued last month advising of the fees charged.
Chief Executive Officer Dr. Paki Molumi says the fees of K150 per day for ordinary beds and K250 per day for self-contained rooms will come into effect on Monday April 4.
Dr. Molumi says this is only for the 30 beds of Ward 8 and 24 of whom are standard and 6 self-contained but all air-conditioned.
Fees are only for the rooms and beds as other normal fees for services dispensed will still apply and food will be the same from the Hospital catering.
Dr. Molumi says, the Hospital Board through the Patient Review Subcommittee approved implementation of the following fees for patients who choose to be admitted to the private ward.
The revenue generated will be used to improve the quality of patient care in all areas of the hospital.

- Security contingency teams have been deployed to Hela province as of yesterday in light of the current situation.
This includes a squad from Mendi who left yesterday and a Mobile Unit from Mt. Hagen which left today.
Minister for Police, William Onglo revealed this in a statement today whilst strongly condemning the killing of a reservist officer by the warlords.
He says people need to respect the rule of law and maintain their conduct as responsible citizens, but these people feel they are above the law and can take the life of an innocent policeman who was just doing his job.
The Minister stressed they want to see investigations and arrests made, and perpetrators to be dealt with the full force of the law.
Moreover, the National Executive Council in its meeting today endorsed for early security operations in the entire region leading up to the 2022 National Elections.

- A reserve policeman from Hela was shot dead last night, while one is still fighting for his life at the Tari general hospital.
Two other police officers who were also injured have been discharged from the hospital.
This followed a shoot-out between disgruntled warlords and police yesterday at Kupari village.
Provincial Election Coordinator, Chief Inspector Timothy Pomoso confirmed in an interview with NBC News today that intervention by police officers to dissolve a tribal warfare between the villagers stirred up the gun battle.

Zumin Primary School, established in the late 1980s is the proud recipients of student and teacher’s resources from Brisbane, Australia.
This has been made possible through the efforts of a Non-Profit Organization, Yumi Project based in Australia, which collected the items, and shipped them to Lae.
