- PNG is set to have its own biosecurity laboratory following an agreement signing this morning between the National Quarantine Inspection Authority and the Australian Center for Disease Prevention.
According to PNG experts, this will enable PNG to do its own testing for animal diseases, including agricultural plants as well.

- Treasurer, Ian Ling Stuckey has defended the National Executive Council decision to remove temporarily the 10% Goods and Services Tax on selected basic items.
He was responding to concerns by some businesses about the GST changes.
Ling-Stuckey in a statement says the GST reduction on selected items is the fairest and most equitable way to reduce cost of living pressures on families.
He says the Internal Revenue and Customs Services will work closely with businesses to ensure that the changes are made efficiently as possible.
The Independent Consumer and Competition Commission will also work to ensure that the GST cuts are passed onto consumers rather than pocketed by some unscrupulous business.
The Treasurer says they are looking forward to passing the necessary changes in the GST legislation in the April sitting of parliament.

- The Moresby North West MP, Lohia Boe Samuel was released from Boroko Police Station cell on Friday evening after the payment of his bail money.
Mr. Samuel was granted a 10-thousand Kina bail attached with conditions he must comply with, by the National Court in Waigani on Friday.
Justice Teresa Berrigan was persuaded that there has been an essential change of circumstance in the information presented to Court by his Lawyer, Edward Sasingian of Sasingian Lawyers, for bail to be allowed.
This is after his co-accused and Protocol Officer, Fabian Hera gave his statement to Police later, on the alleged incident.

- The much needed Credit Guarantee Corporation to support and grow MSMEs will be launched by the Central Bank on Tuesday.
NEC approved the CGC establishment towards the end of 2021 under the Medium Term Development Policy III to address the lack of access to credit and capital for MSMEs.
BPNG has indicated taking the lead to do preparatory work incorporating the CGC under the Companies Act 1997 early this year.
The official launch will see the CGC as a legal entity to support the Government’s policy to develop and grow the MSME sector in order to create new employment, achieve sustainable economic growth and fair and equitable distribution of wealth through majority citizen ownership of business activities.
The CGC will further support MSMEs by working in partnership with and through participating financial institutions to provide credit guarantee to financial institutions as a credit risk mitigation to lenders.

- PNG LNG Kumuls Coach, Michael Marum announced his resignation today, during the PNG Rugby Football League’s Annual General Meeting in Lae.
Affiliates that attended the AGM were shocked by Marum’s announcement.
Marum has been coaching the national men’s rugby league side for a number of years.
During his presentation, Marum highlighted two of his achievement, that is the success of the SP PNG Hunters winning the Intrust Super Cup in 2017, and Great Britain’s Tour to PNG under the stewardship of Legendary NRL Coach, Wayne Bennett in 2019, where the Kumuls won their respective matches on home soil.

- Prime Minister, James Marape is expected to officially commission the newly constructed Maramuni Road in the Wabag District of the Enga Province next month.
The National Minister for Fisheries & Marine Resources and Member for Wabag, Dr. Lino Tom made the announcement recently.
He says, apart from opening of the road, the Prime Minister will also ‘launch the new Enga - Sepik Highway’.

- Bulolo township of Morobe Province will soon access clean water supply from Water PNG Limited, in collaboration with the Marape-Basil Government.
Sponsored by the World Bank, work on this project will now kick off, following its launching on the 19th of March this year.
It has taken 11 years for funding to be cleared by the World Bank, enabling the launching to happen this year.
