- Handing over a smartphone for repairs or an unlock can feel routine, but the Better Business Bureau says complaints show it can also be a high-risk decision for consumers’ devices, data and money.
Cameron Nakashima of the Better Business Bureau said the BBB continues to see a gap between what customers expect and what they say they receive from some cellphone repair and unlock services.
“This is a high-trust transaction, but complaints show a gap between expectation and reality,” Nakashima said.
In Washington alone, he said, “1,148 complaints and 471 negative reviews point to consistent issues.”

The initiative was designed to expand access to retirement accounts ahead of a new federal benefit that's set to begin in January 2027, when the government will start matching contributions made by low- and middle-income workers.
The matching program, known as the Saver’s Match, will offer a maximum match of $1,000 for single filers and $2,000 for married couples who file jointly. It will offer smaller matches for single filers making less than $46,000 a year. It applies to contributions made toward 401(k) plans, IRAs and Roth IRAs.

- Description
- A judge in Thurston County has temporarily blocked part of a new Washington law aimed at increasing oversight of county sheriffs, just a day before it was set to take effect.
The order came after an emergency hearing in Thurston County Superior Court on a lawsuit filed by sheriffs from Spokane, Pend Oreille, Stevens, and Ferry counties.
The sheriffs argue the new rules are unconstitutional.
The law would allow the Criminal Justice Training Commission to deny, suspend, or revoke a sheriff’s certification, or require training, if a sheriff says something or makes posts online that could be considered prejudicial or discriminatory.
Supporters of the law say it is intended to boost public trust and confidence in the criminal justice system by helping to prevent misconduct and enhance accountability for peace officers and corrections officers.

- Residents in a Marysville neighborhood say they are frustrated with a property they believe has become a safety concern.
Police were most recently called to the home April 25 after receiving four noise complaints, according to MPD data obtained by KOMO News.
Neighbors said large groups of teenagers gather at the house for late-night weekend parties. They say the gatherings are more than a nuisance, raising concerns about drunk driving and other safety risks, as well as whether police have enough resources to address the issue.
Cellphone video provided by neighbors shows large crowds spilling out of a house party and onto what is typically a quiet residential street as police work to break it up.

Republican Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the committee, opened the hearing by backing Trump’s push for increased military spending, pointing to recent defense buildups by China, Russia and Iran.

The now-deleted Instagram post, shared last May, showed seashells on a beach arranged to spell out the numbers “86 47.” The number 86 is sometimes used in service-industry slang to mean removing something, while 47 is a reference to Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States.
Some critics interpreted the numbers as a call to harm Trump, accusing Comey of advocating violence against the president.

Charles’s remarks place him among a small group of world leaders—and even fewer British royals—invited to address Congress. The moment carries deep symbolic weight, echoing Queen Elizabeth II’s 1991 speech and reinforcing the historic bonds between the two nations.
Charles began his address to Congress, referencing the Saturday night shooting at the White House Correspondents' Dinner, calling it the “incident not far from this great building." He said the shooting “sought to harm the leadership of your nation and to foment wider fe...
