- After a soggy Thursday brought heavy rain and flooding concerns to parts of the state, Hawaiʻi is finally seeing improving weather conditions heading into the weekend.
An upper-level low-pressure system northwest of the islands continues to bring lingering showers, particularly across Maui County and Hawaiʻi Island. However, rainfall coverage and intensity are expected to gradually decrease throughout Friday.
Trade winds will begin returning Friday, becoming more noticeable Saturday as a high-pressure system builds northeast of the state. A drier and more typical trade wind weather pattern is expected through early next week, with occasional windward and mauka showers.

At 6-foot-2 and 235 pounds, the American Samoa-born athlete starred at linebacker and tight end, helping Waianae rack up 17 victories over two seasons while earning all-state honors.
