- The Hawaiian Humane Society is gearing up for its 36th annual PetWalk: A Josie’s ʻOhana Event, happening Saturday, October 24, from 7 a.m. to noon at Kapiʻolani Regional Park.
Oʻahu’s largest outdoor pet celebration is expected to bring together more than 1,000 pets and their people for a morning of family-friendly fun, all while supporting animals in need. This year's festivities include a 1.8-mile walk, a Senior Stroll for kūpuna, a pet expo, an agility course, a pet costume contest and plenty of activities for the whole ʻohana.
Hawaiian Humane Society Communications Coordinator Kawena Correa joined Wake Up 2Day alongside Wabi Sabi, a 5-year-old poi dog who is searching for his forever home. After arriving at the shelter underweight and with old scars, Wabi Sabi has made a remarkable recovery and become a staff and volunteer favorite. Thanks to the Reid Krucky Memorial Fund, his adoption fee is waived, and he'll go home with a starter bundle of supplies.
