- Description
- The University of Hawaii football team returns to action Saturday night at the Ching Complex, hosting New Mexico State as the Rainbow Warriors look for their first victory of the 2026 season.
Hawaii has struggled to find consistency in the passing game through the first two games. Drops and missed connections have contributed to a completion rate of just 51%, but receivers coach Jared Ursua said the unit remains confident in its ability to turn things around.
“We’ve missed out on some opportunities,” Ursua said. “I think that’s what’s hard. And then when you don’t get the result that you want, it just kind of attacks you all at once.”
Ursua said the focus remains on fundamentals and execution, particularly getting receivers to their spots and making plays when the ball arrives.
In losses at Stanford and at home against UNLV, slot back Tama Uiliata's eight catches are the most in the unit with Kainoa Carvalho's 98 recei...

- A retired New York City firefighter reflects on his experience at Ground Zero on September 11, 2001. Leonard Friedlander was on medical leave the week of the attacks and had transferred out of his original Manhattan battalion, the same battalion that would ultimately lose all of its members in the attacks. He recalls how close he came to being among the first firefighters to arrive, the devastation he witnessed while helping with triage at Ground Zero just hours after the attacks, and the difficult task of later identifying fallen fellow firefighters. Twenty-five years later, he reflects on the colleagues and loved ones lost, the lasting health and emotional toll of the attacks, and why it’s important for future generations to remember.

- Description
- It’s 25 years since the 9/11 attacks, and people here in Hawaiʻi are taking time to remember those who lost their lives.
Hikers on Koko Head Trail paid tribute to the first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice on September 11, 2001.
Each step has extra importance as hikers said they try to recreate those same steps first responders made up the World Trade Center.
On the trail, people said they saw record number of hikers from route regulars to tribute groups.
Hundreds of first responders made their way up the mountain in groups some dressed in turnouts while others carry backpacks of gravel to help maintain the trail.
The annual tradition at the trail has continued for a quarter of a century with many more years to come.
