- The University of Hawai‘i football team took an unexpected field trip Wednesday afternoon, using a change of scenery to test its ability to adjust on the fly.
About an hour into practice, coaches instructed the Rainbow Warriors to head to the parking lot, where buses were waiting. Still in full uniform, the team boarded the buses and traveled to Kalani High School, where it completed the remainder of its training session.
“Just giving the guys a different environment and seeing if they can perform their goals in a different environment,” Hawai‘i coach Timmy Chang said. “Different part of training camp just to get them ready for what’s upcoming.”
The exercise was designed to put the players in an uncomfortable situation and force them to adapt to an unexpected change.

Darren Ho, Kelia Moniz, Beth McLachlin and Anthony “Tony” Sellitto will be honored during the Hall of Fame’s annual banquet Aug. 13 at the Honolulu Country Club.

The 2026 class represents a diverse group of athletes, coaches and contributors who made lasting impacts in skateboarding, surfing, volleyball and basketball.
Sellitto is being inducted as a contributor and coach. He remains the only basketball coach in Hawai‘i history to win both a high school state championship and a college national championship.
Sellitto led Maryknoll School to the state championship in 1984 before guiding Hawai‘i Pacific University to the NAIA national title in 1993.

The numbers are in and over the past two years, nearly $4 million in charity and fundraising fraud attempts have been reported to BBB. The FBI puts total losses closer to around $96 million. There are warning signs to keep an eye out for to prevent this kind of fraud. One of the key things to keep in mind is that a familiar platform or website does not guarantee a legitimate fundraiser.
There are things you can do to stay safe when trying to help a fundraiser or charity. Make sure to verify the fundraiser before you donate, search the name of the organization and look for an BBB Business or Charity profile. Also read the campaign information carefully to find out who collects and controls the funds.

- Hawaii weather officials are closely monitoring Potential Tropical Cyclone One-C as it strengthens in the Pacific.
In the latest update from the National Weather Service, the disturbance currently sits about 935 miles east-southeast of Hilo and 1140 miles east-southeast of Honolulu.
As of now, it has maximum sustained winds of 35 miles per hour and is moving west at 10 miles per hour.
The system is expected to continue moving westward to west-northwestward in the next few days, and will near the Hawaiian Islands by late Friday.
Officials said the disturbance is expected to become a tropical storm within the next day or so, with a 90 percent formation chance.
"A Hurricane or Tropical Storm Watch will likely be required for these islands by early Thursday," the NWS said.
They added that regardless of the system's track, there is still an increasing risk of wind impacts.
