- It's a small village tucked away in Franklin County. You might not picture a technology business to thrive there. But one Hildreth man came up with a swimming idea.
3 gallons full of labor and hard work. Add water and you've got a bright idea.
"We threw one away at work," Jake Harms said. "They were just like this thing is broken, go throw it in the trash can."
As you might guess, he didn't throw it away.
"I've always been the kind of guy that likes to take things apart and see how they work," Harms said.
Meet Jake Harms.
"Everyone's like oh, you're the computer aquarium guy and I'm like yeah there's surely no title for it," Harms said.
Back in 2007, Jake took that computer home. He cast a line and made a splash.
"I had an iMac and I saw someone that made an aquarium and I was like oh I'll make that," Harms said.

But, does pulling out all the stops pay off at the polls? New's 5 Julia Briars has the story.
You can't turn on your TV without seeing one of these ads.
Negative ads have become a part of the political game.

- It happens in Paris and New York, but now an art heist in Hastings. A painting worth 1,500 dollars was stolen from Hastings College, the third theft at the art center within a year.
The art center on the campus of Hastings College is full of famous pieces. But, on Monday Art chairman Turner McGhee noticed a mainstay of the gallery missing.
"I thought, well, there are very few people with a vehicle that could carry such a thing so the first thing I did was to check in all the bushes around the building but it was gone," said Turner McGhee, Chairman of the Art Department at Hastings College.
"This is not the Thomas Crown Affair, somebody didn't just walk in fold this painting up and carry it off in a briefcase," said Alicia O'Donnell, Communications Manager at Hastings College.
The art work is 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It took up nearly this entire wall. The painting screws and all were ripped right out of the wall.

- In the old days of baseball, the catcher's gear was called the "tools of ignorance".... Of course anyone who knows baseball knows the opposite is true... You have to be very smart as well as very talented to be a good catcher. This week's News 5 Aurora Cooperative Five Star performer proves that.
Last Friday night, a tough one for the Huskers. They lose starting catcher Tanner Lubach sliding into second twisting his ankle, out indefinitely. Nebraska goes on to lose to cellar dwelling Northwestern. In steps former Kearney Bearcat Taylor Fish. He catches the rest of that game and 18 innings of the doubleheader the next day. As they squad trys to secure its first NCAA bid since 2008 the former Kearney Bearcat is all of a sudden as key a player as the Big Red has.
Probably more innings than he has caught in his life probably ever in one day and he did a pretty nice job. He got a big hit in the first game and we're going to have to lean on him very heavily here an...

- A museum worth traveling for and it's in our own backyard! Hastings Museum made two national online lists as a don't-miss destination.
TripAdvisor's FlipKey Blog added the museum to its list of the 50 museums worth traveling for.
Only one museum in each state was selected, among art museums, children's museums and historical museums.
In another national list, the Huffington Post's travel section featured the local museum.
It's part of an article called "This is one tourist trap you're missing out on in each US state."
"Their idea was to wipe away all the labels and just highlight one destination in each state that perhaps gets overlooked, but really deserves to be visited," Hastings Museum Director, Becky Matticks said.
Hastings Museum is the largest municipal museum between Chicago and Denver.

- Description
- A Hastings native and Hastings College benefactor who the Washington Post called "one of the most sought after" lobbyists in D.C. has died at the age of 92.
Bob Gray's career in government included a position as secretary of the cabinet in the Eisenhower administration. In 1961, he joined the public relations firm Hill and Knowlton where, as head of Washington operations, he helped turn the company into an industry giant. He served as director of communications for Ronald Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, and co-chaired Reagan's 1981 inauguration committee.
Gray turned that connection into one of Central Nebraska's most memorable days, when he brought Reagan to Hastings in 1988 for the dedication of the CJ and Marie Gray Center for the Communication Arts at Hastings College; a facility named in honor of his parents.
Funeral services for Gray will be held Monday in Miami, Florida. Hastings services are being planned, although a date has not yet ...

- Description
- Cut taxes... it's a phrase we hear often from politicians. Last night at the Grand Island Mayoral debate candidates were asked whether or not residents can expect a tax increase.
Mayor Vavricek touted the fact that city residents haven't seen an increase in two years. Meanwhile, his opponents don't think that's possible in the future if Grand Island wants to continue to grow.
"These fees and these utility rates and these taxes continue to go up and it is reducing our attractiveness."
"Back to back city budgets without a tax increase. Going forward I'm not going to take the easy way out and say, hey there's no way to do this but raise taxes. We're doing just the opposite."
"I think it's foolish for any of us to say there won't be tax increases, because some of that stuff is out of our control."
The primary election is May 13th. Two candidates will move on to the November election.
