- HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of 11-year-old Julian Guzman in the 9700 block of Racine Street about 10:55 p.m. on Aug. 30.
The suspect, Gonzalo Leon Jr., is charged with murder in the 177th Criminal District Court. He was taken into custody Sept. 2 by members of HPD's Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Detail and Criminal Apprehension Team (CAT).
According to the Houston Police Department’s Homicide Division, Guzman was playing a prank commonly known as ding dong ditch, where kids ring doorbells and run away. A witness stated Guzman was running from a house just before being shot once.
He was transported to an area hospital and pronounced deceased on Aug. 31.

- HOUSTON, TX – Houston Police are investigating after skeletal remains were found in a wooded area off the 12800 block of Bissonnet.
The discovery was made a little after 2:30 p.m. when a male in the area located what he believed to be human remains. Responding Westside patrol officers confirmed the remains appeared to be skeletal.
According to police, at least two parts of a skull were visible. Investigators believe the remains are from one adult, but the gender, age, and cause of death are unknown at this time. Officers noted it appeared there had been a homeless camp in the area at some point.
The Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office is expected to conduct an autopsy to determine more details.
It is not known if foul play is involved.

Officers responded to a reported burglary in progress and discovered the male on the ground, unresponsive and not breathing, with a significant amount of blood around him. The cause of death is pending the medical examiner’s review.
Police said the homeowners did not know the man.

- HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against a suspect in connection with the fatal stabbing of a man earlier this month in northeast Houston.
The incident occurred around 9 a.m. on August 12 in the 4500 block of Pickfair Street. Houston police officers responded to a report of a male lying in the roadway. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim, identified as Joshua Hampton, 36, deceased at the scene. He had suffered multiple stab wounds.
According to the HPD Homicide Division, nearby residents did not report hearing or seeing any disturbance before the victim was found. A person of interest came forward during the investigation but was questioned and released.
Further investigation identified James Brown, 50, as the suspect. On August 27, Brown was arrested without incident by the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders Task Force. He is charged with murder in the 183rd State District Court and was booked into the Harris County Jail.

Kedar Andrey Smith, 28, was identified as the suspect in the August 17, 2024, shooting. He was arrested in Louisiana by the Louisiana State Police and Alexandria Police Department and remains held at the Rapides Parish Jail. Smith is charged with murder in the 488th State District Court in Harris County, Texas.

According to investigators, a 61-year-old male was riding a white Moto Guzzi motorcycle eastbound on Patton when a gray Honda HR-V, traveling westbound, failed to yield while making a left turn into the Fiesta parking lot. The motorcycle lost control, fell, and slid into the Honda.
Paramedics transported the motorcyclist to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

- HOUSTON, TX – Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in the 5500 block of North Braeswood Boulevard about 6:25 a.m. Monday.
According to Houston police, a white Ford F-350 was traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed when the driver failed to maintain a single lane. The truck veered off the road, struck a light pole, hit the edge of the bridge rail, and then flipped across the ravine before coming to rest in shallow water.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the 27-year-old male driver deceased at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

- HOUSTON, TX – An elderly man was found with a gunshot wound inside a disabled vehicle early Sunday morning as Houston police and firefighters investigated another crash downtown.
The incident began around 5:33 a.m. when Houston Fire Department and Houston Police Department units responded to a wreck on Interstate 45 near Pierce. While assisting with traffic control, an HFD unit struck an unoccupied HPD vehicle. That minor crash was moved off the freeway to the area in front of 500 Jefferson.
During the investigation, an HPD officer was also involved in a separate minor crash at the intersection of Smith and Brazos. No injuries were reported in either crash.

- HARRIS COUNTY, TX – Two men were critically injured after being stabbed inside the Bridges of Cypress Creek Apartment Homes in north Harris County Saturday evening.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded around 7:30 p.m. to a disturbance call at 17710 Red Oak Drive. Deputies quickly upgraded the call to an in-progress incident with life in danger after receiving reports that two men had been stabbed.
When deputies arrived, they located the suspect in the parking lot and safely detained him. One victim, who had approached deputies outside, told them his roommate was also injured inside the apartment. - HARRIS COUNTY, TX – A driver was killed in a crash on West Mount Houston Road early Saturday morning.
The crash occurred around 5:21 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2025, in the 1800 block of West Mount Houston Road. According to investigators, Xavier Lamone Clinton was operating a 2019 Freightliner truck tractor, hauling a 2017 Wabash trailer, and was stopped at a red light in the westbound number two lane. At the same time, a 2013 black Chevrolet Tahoe traveling in the number three lane failed to stay in its lane and struck the back right corner of the trailer.
Emergency Medical Services and the Fire Department responded to the scene. The driver of the Tahoe was pinned inside the vehicle and required extrication.
