- Briceño began his business career with a meat shop in Orange Walk before expanding into tortilla production in Dangriga and Belize City in the early nineteen-eighties. In 1988, he established RB’s Texaco Gas Station at the corner of Central American Boulevard and Cemetery Street in Belize City, which he operated until 2010. His business interests also extended to telecommunications. The PUP credits him with joining his family in the venture behind Smart under Speednet Communications Limited in 2005. PUP Chairman Henry Charles Usher also spoke about the loss to the party.
Beyond business, Briceño was passionate about music and entertainment. He established and promoted RB’s Karaoke and, in 2019, started the TLC Band. He was also an avid football and billiards enthusiast who played on and coached teams in Belize City, Orange Walk and Dangriga./

- Rosado was first charged in April 2022 following a complaint made in December 2021. At his initial arraignment, he faced one count of rape, one count of sexual assault and six counts of aggravated assault of an indecent nature. The complainant alleges that the abuse began when she was thirteen and continued over several years. Rosado has pleaded not guilty. Deputy Prime Minister Cordel Hyde was also asked about Rosado’s retention on the ICJ team while the criminal proceedings remain before the court. He was extremely brief, essentially rejecting the decision to retain Ambassador Rosado.
Rosado’s case is before the High Court in Belmopan. At his latest reported appearance on October 16, his defence confirmed that Jamaican attorney Deborah Martin would take over as lead counsel. A case management hearing was set for November 20.

- Deputy PM Hyde publicly raised the proposal in September, arguing that Government leaders needed to tighten their own belts and show that they understood the pressures facing Belizeans. He warned that failing to act could reinforce the perception that ministers were disconnected from the people they serve. Prime Minister John Briceño initially indicated that he was open to discussing reductions. Earlier this week, however, he expressed reservations, saying ministers use their allowances, and additional money, to help constituents with education, medical expenses and deaths in their families. Briceño argued that cutting the allowances could leave representatives with less money to provide that assistance. Hyde remains firm that the allowances should be reduced. Asked about the proposal again today, the Deputy Prime Minister maintained his position.

- Belize City Mayor Bernard Wagner says the City Council is in good financial standing as he prepares to leave office at the end of his third consecutive term. Wagner gave that assessment while discussing the council’s finances and the transition to new leadership.
Wagner was first elected mayor in March 2018 and returned to office in 2021 and 2024. His third victory made him the first Belize City mayor elected to three consecutive terms. His current term runs until 2027, and he has said he will not seek re-election. - Staff at the Belize Tax Service Department are in the process of being sensitised regarding the planned transition to a Semi-Autonomous Revenue Authority, known as SARA. Director General Michelle Longsworth says the discussions cover the three employment options available to permanent staff, along with the positions that will be available under the new authority. She says the sensitisation is taking employees through their choices and the opportunities under the proposed structure.
Government says the transition will give tax administrators greater flexibility to recruit specialised staff, improve services and strengthen tax compliance. - Decomposing animal carcasses dumped along a Belize Electricity Limited powerline in Sandhill Village have been removed and properly disposed of, according to information reaching Love News shortly before news time. The update follows complaints from nearby residents and a response today from the Ministry of Health and Wellness about the public health concerns. Love News visited the site yesterday and found partially burnt animal remains scattered in the open, surrounded by flies and vultures. Resident Alejandro Moralez said the stench was blowing toward nearby homes, making life difficult for families and leaving them worried about their health. Principal Public Health Inspector and Health Disaster Coordinator John Bodden explained the concerns that arise when animal remains are left exposed for days.

BAHA says it was unaware that the disposal had not been completed. Its officers later visited the dumping site and began working with the Ministry of Health and Wellness to address the situation. - After being reported missing thirty-five days ago, Police Constable Kenyon Barrow was located in Orange Walk this morning at around ten-thirty. The twenty-four-year-old is alive and well, according to ASP Stacy Smith. But while his discovery brings relief to his family, Barrow could be out of a job. Smith says he had been absent without leave since July 30.
Barrow was reported missing on September 17 after his family lost contact with him earlier that month. His disappearance prompted a search involving police officers, Belize Defence Force soldiers, relatives and volunteers. Before he was reported missing, the department had made several attempts to reach him but those attempts were unsuccessful. Barrow was attached to the Orange Walk Police Formation.

- The search for twenty-one-year-old Jamir Arana has ended in tragedy. The Belize City resident, who had autism, was found dead along the Hummingbird Highway between Armenia and Belmopan early this morning. Police suspect he was killed in a hit-and-run. A pickup truck has been impounded, and its owner is detained as investigators work to establish what happened. Arana was reported missing yesterday after becoming separated from his mother in Belize City. He was last seen on Baymen Avenue at around one-forty that afternoon, wearing a white T-shirt and long white pants. ASP Stacy Smith says police received a report of an unresponsive man along the highway at around five-thirty this morning. At the area, officers found a vehicle’s rear bumper at the scene with a further search leading to a pickup truck several miles away.
