- Cooler temperatures and showers on Sunday
- Date posted
- Description
- Today's front will stall across the region tomorrow, allowing for more unsettled weather Sunday. A few isolated showers are in the forecast for Sunday afternoon. The big change tomorrow: cooler temperatures. Highs will only get into the mid-70s.
Next Week: The cooler readings won't last long, and we are back near 80 degrees on Monday. Another wave of storms is set to enter the area Monday evening. Some of these storms could produce heavy rain.
After Monday, our next big weather maker is set to move in midweek. A strong cold front will sweep through the southeast Wednesday/Thursday, bringing scattered storms. We are watching this system for a potential severe weather setup.
Because of the cold front, we will drop nearly 20 degrees. From mid-80s Wednesday to mid-60s on Thursday. Those afternoon temperatures will slowly heat up by next weekend. Morning lows, however...get ready for low-40s next Friday!

- Date posted
- Description
- Get ready for another warm day this Saturday. The morning will start off cloudy, but sunshine will break through by the afternoon. That sunshine will help spark a few isolated storms later in the day, and one or two could become strong.
Storm chances return again Sunday afternoon, but temperatures will be noticeably cooler. Highs will drop nearly 10 degrees compared to Saturday, settling in the mid-70s.
The cooler air won’t stick around for long. Temperatures will climb back into the 80s by Monday afternoon. Rain chances will stay fairly low Monday and Tuesday as a front stalls across the region.
Our next significant weather system is expected to arrive by the middle of the week. Scattered showers and storms will be possible Thursday. Since it’s still several days away, it’s too early to know if severe weather will develop, but it’s something we’ll be watching closely.
Behind that system, a much cooler air mass moves in. Hig...

The Weekend: Get ready for another warm day on Saturday. After a cloudy morning, sunshine will help fuel isolated storms in the afternoon. One or two could be strong.
Storms will be possible again Sunday afternoon, but temperatures will be cooler. Highs will be nearly 10 degrees cooler, sitting in the mid-70s!
Next Week: Those cooler temps won't last long. 80s will return Monday afternoon. Rain chances will be minimal Monday and Tuesday as a front stalls across the region.
Our next big weather maker is set to move in Wednesday/Thursday. Scattered showers and storms are possible Thursday. Because we are still so far out, it is still too early to say if we will have severe weather, but we are watching it.

- Heavy metals found in Columbus creeks, part of the Chattahoochee River basin; Impacting fish life
- Date posted
- Description
- Elevated levels of heavy metals have recently been found in some Columbus creeks, a part of the Chattahoochee River basin. Dr. Michael Newbrey and his students are taking a closer look at how heavy metals may be affecting local fish life. The waters tested…. Bull Creek, Lindsey Creek, Roaring Branch, Weracoba Creek, and Lake Oliver.
What does it mean for fish? Graduate Student Amanda Cook says, “So these fish that are exposed to the higher levels of lead are living shorter lives, not as reproductively successful.”
Since the 1980s, lead and copper have been regulated in US waterways by the Environmental Protection Agency. Georgia Water Quality Standards say that Copper can not reach above 7 micrograms/liter in creeks for an acute case or 5 micrograms/liter for a chronic case. Lead cannot get above 30 micrograms/liter for acute or 1.2 micrograms/liter for chronic

- Happy Thursday! Over the next few hours, we are tracking a few isolated storms lifting north across the area. Most will remain dry, but some could see heavy rainfall.
Friday: This pattern is set to continue tomorrow. Get ready for a cloudy morning followed by plenty of sunshine in the afternoon. A few stray showers will be possible later Friday evening. Temperatures will reach into the low to mid 80s.
The Weekend: We will continue to see chance for showers and storms this weekend. In fact, Sunday will be a better day for measurable rainfall for the region. With more clouds and rain in the forecast, afternoon highs will "cool" to a pleasant 80 degrees.
Next Week: Starting Monday, our rain chances are backing off slightly. This won't last long! A strong front will be moving through the region next Thursday. It is still too early to say for certain if we will have severe weather, but we are keeping an eye on it. Behind this front, get ready for 70...

- Sunshine Returns, Then a Warm & Slightly Unsettled Weekend Ahead-Bob Jeswald 3/3/2026 Weather Update
- Date posted
- Description
- After a stretch of unsettled weather, the forecast finally begins to break. Expect some morning fog to start your Wednesday, but once it lifts, temperatures will warm quickly. Afternoon highs climb into the lower 80s with plenty of sunshine to round out the day.
For the rest of the workweek, Thursday and Friday bring what we call a “weak impulse” — small waves in the atmosphere that could trigger a stray light shower. Most areas stay dry, but a brief shower can’t be ruled out.
A front will attempt to slide southeast, but high pressure builds in and blocks it over the weekend. That means we stay very warm and a bit more humid, with highs reaching the mid-80s Saturday and settling back to the lower 80s Sunday. Each afternoon could feature a pop-up shower or storm, typical of a warmer and slightly more humid pattern.
Looking ahead to next week, clouds will linger at times with daytime highs holding in the lower 80s. Overnight lows start off o...

- Bob Weather Update 3/2/2026-Slight Cool-Down Tuesday Before Temperatures Climb Back Toward 80°
- Date posted
- Description
- A brief dip in temperatures is on the way Tuesday as a pocket of high pressure settles over the Mid-Atlantic. Forecasters are calling it a weak “wedge” pattern — nothing out of the ordinary, but enough to keep afternoon highs closer to 70 degrees.
By Wednesday and Thursday, that cooler influence fades as stronger high pressure rebuilds from the west. Temperatures will respond quickly, climbing into the upper 70s by midweek. By the end of the week, some areas could see highs reach the lower 80s.
Rain Chances Remain Limited
Despite the warming trend, rainfall continues to run below average across the region. Dry conditions are expected to persist, even with a few pop-up showers possible late in the week.
Scattered, heat-driven showers could develop Thursday and Friday as limited moisture combines with daytime heating. However, coverage should remain spotty. A weak disturbance in the atmosphere may approach over the weekend, but a ...

- Bob Jeswald Weather Update 2/24/2026 - Warmer Temperatures Return with Late-Week Showers Possible
- Date posted
- Description
- Clouds will increase ahead of an approaching front. This will be a west-to-east moving front, which means we’re not expecting severe weather. However, we could still see numerous showers and even a few thunderstorms late Thursday. Skies will begin clearing later Friday afternoon.
You’ll notice a considerable change in temperatures. After dipping below freezing several mornings recently—despite pleasant afternoons—we’ll see the pendulum swing back to much warmer, more spring-like readings.
Highs will reach around 70 degrees Wednesday, climb into the low 70s Thursday, and continue through Saturday. By Sunday and early next week, temperatures are expected to reach the mid-70s.
Rain chances remain low next week, although a weak front may move through Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. At this time, mild weather continues, with only a slight chance of a few stray light showers.
Enjoy your weekend — it’s shaping up to be a beautif...

A late-week cold front will deliver much-needed rainfall, sweeping through the area by Friday morning. Unlike many winter cold fronts, this system will not usher in a blast of colder air. Instead, warmer conditions are expected behind the front. That’s because this particular storm system is not tapping into cold Canadian air, allowing temperatures to rebound rather than drop.
By the weekend, the forecast turns decidedly spring-like, with milder air settling in and comfor...
