This will push afternoon temperatures into the mid-90s, with heat index values climbing into the lower 100s. Under these conditions, the body can quickly succumb to heat-related illnesses such as heat exhaustion or even heat stroke if proper precautions are not taken.
Looking into the extended forecast, the best opportunities for scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms will come Monday and Tuesday.
While a few locations may receive some brief cooling from the rain, temperatures will only drop slightly, and the added moisture will make the humidity even more oppressive.

Drought Update: Thanks to the substantial rain over the past two weeks, many areas are REMOVED from the drought entirely! We still have a few "dry" areas across the area.
Since the beginning of June, we have had 8.80 inches of rain, over 5.50 inches above average. We can't rule out drought conditions returning over the next few weeks, with temperatures starting to climb.
Friday: Temperatures will creep into the 90s to end the week. With humidity levels climbing, feel-like readings will sit in the mid-90s. This stalled out front will bring isolated storms tomorrow afternoon.

- A line of strong thunderstorms is expected to move through the region late tonight, bringing the potential for gusty winds and isolated tree damage between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m.
The greatest concern will be strong wind gusts capable of toppling weakened trees and causing scattered power outages. Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and remain weather-aware through the overnight hours.
Behind the storms, a significant change in the weather pattern arrives on Tuesday. Drier air will sweep into the area, leading to increasing sunshine during the afternoon and noticeably lower humidity levels.
