At a press conference on Sunday, Willis challenged Labour leader Chris Hipkins and finance spokesperson Barbara Edmonds to explain the gap between its spending plans and how it would pay for them. Willis produced a document called 'Labour's Hidden Bill' detailing the party's policy announcements so far, and associated costs.
Edmonds fired back soon after, saying National was "desperate".
"This is simply a distraction from their own record because they know New Zealanders are worse off after three years of broken promises."

Auckland resident Bruce Hopkins, an actor known for his portrayal of Gamling in The Lord of the Rings, was on board when the rafts went on their an unexpected journeys. He estimated the swells were up to two metres and there were up to 30 passengers on the car ferry.
SeaLink said after the life rafts were lost overboard, as a precaution, a sister ship accompanied the ferry on its return to Auckland. A spokesperson said the passengers or crew were not placed at risk, and there was no impact to the vessel's safe navigation.

Transport Accident Investigation Commission's (TAIC) chief investigator has described the train crash in Khandallah as a "serious incident", and said it was too early in the investigation to determine the cause. TAIC is the agency responsible for investigating rail crashes.
