Payne, in Florida ahead of the All Whites' second friendly match this weekend, met with Scarsini at the team's hotel on Wednesday and said he's still trying to wrap his head around it all.
The pair communicated partially via a translator, with Payne, who speaks "a little" Spanish, thanking Scarsini for all he has done and presenting him with an All Whites football jersey.

A $30 million fund has been set up to put solar panels on 500 schools across the country, it was announced in Christchurch on Wednesday. The rollout of solar will start next summer and be complete by 2028. There is no financial contribution required by schools to be part of the programme.
Prime Minister Christopher Luxon was joined by Energy Minister Simeon Brown and Education Minister Erica Stanford for the announcement.
