- Referees for the knockout stages at the women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco go through their paces at the Complexe Sportif Prince Moulay Abdallah in Rabat.
Thirty-two women from across Africa were lined up for the tournament which has been using a team of referees monitoring videos to help the on-field officials.
The competition – which started on 2 July – boasts 12 teams for the first time. It is also the first time the event has been held in North Africa since its inception in 1991. Paul Myers is there for RFI English. https://rfi.my/8aiK

- When the African slaves called ‘marroons’ escaped the Dutch plantations in Surinam in South America, they found shelter in the forests nearby and in French Guyana where they recreated communities. Around 1860, these ‘bushinenge’ started to develop a specific form of art made up of geometric patterns. Geneviève Wiels, curator of the exhibition "Marronnage, l’art de briser ses chaînes ", at the Maison de l’Amérique latine in Paris, explained to RFI what this art, known as tembe art, is.
