- An investigation is underway after a fire broke out overnight inside a building at KCRA's Downtown studios.
The fire broke out around midnight inside an older building that is along 10th Street, north of D Street.
Due to the location of the fire inside the building, and difficulty accessing, a second alarm was called.
Firefighters were eventually able to access the fire and extinguish it.
It was reported that only two employees were inside at the time of the fire. No major injuries were reported.
According to reports, one employee was checked out by paramedics for smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Around 3:45 p.m., police officers were involved in a pursuit that lasted for over forty minutes in Citrus Heights, Rancho Cordova and Sacramento County.
California Highway Patrol, Sacramento County Sheriff's and Rancho Cordova Police were involved in the chase that traveled through many busy surface streets, down Highway 50 and ultimately ended, when the driver drove through the intersection at Gold Bar Drive and Gold Country Boulevard, and crashed into a tree. Ending the near forty minute pursuit.
The driver of the vehicle at first was noncompliant for about fifteen minutes, until the driver complied and was detained after less than lethal measures were deployed.

- At 3:04 a.m., Sacramento Fire and Sacramento Police were dispatched to 22nd Street and S Street for reports of a traffic accident.
Upon arrival, Sacramento Police found the accident was involving two vehicles. There were no known injuries and no victims transported. According to the victims, the driver of the Cadillac rear ended them. The driver of the Cadillac then fled the scene and crashed a block from the original accident. The drivers of the car chased the driver down and took his keys and pepper sprayed him to keep the driver from fleeing the scene again.
The driver of the Cadillac refused to submit to a Field Sobriety Test (FST) and was arrested on suspicion of Driving Under the Influence.
No other injuries or information are available at this time.

- Sacramento police officers responded to reports to an alarm call at a home on the 1800 block of Niantic Way, near 68th Avenue. While responding, officers received additional reports of someone setting the home on fire. The callers reported the suspect was leaving the area.
Firefighters and officers arrived and found heavy fire showing from the home. Crews were able to get the fire quickly contained within a matter of minutes. One victim was transported to the hospital with unknown injuries.
Despite life-saving efforts by firefighters, one house pet died as a result of the fire.
Officers have detained the suspect on the scene. It's unclear why the suspect set the fire at this time.

Shooting Investigation- 2500 block of Traction Ave
On January 1, 2020 at approximately 2:55 p.m. Officers responded to the 2500 block of Traction Ave regarding reports of shots fired. When officers arrived on scene they located an adult male victim who had sustained at least one gun-shot wound.
Responding officers administered first aid until relieved by fire department personnel. Fire department personnel transported the victim to a local hospital in critical condition.
Due to the severity of the victim’s injuries homicide detectives and crime scene investigators have been called to the scene to take over the investigation. This investigation is in the early stages and is active. Based on preliminary information, investigators do not believe that there is an active threat to the community.

- At 10:25 p.m. Sacramento Police and Fire were dispatched to the corner of 19th and Q Street for report of a hit and run at that location.
Upon arrival First Responders found one victim laying in the roadway. The victim was awake, speaking with officers and was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries.
According to reports the vehicle was on top of the victim's leg and had to be told to move the vehicle. The driver then fled the scene.

- Early Tuesday morning, Sacramento police officers initiated a pursuit with a suspect who had a felony warrant out for his arrest. The felony warrant was for a violent offense. The suspect refused to stop, leading officers on a pursuit from Sacramento to Rancho Cordova. The pursuit ended when the suspect stopped his vehicle at a gas station on the corner of Sunrise Blvd and Jackson Road. The suspect then began acting erratically and locked himself inside his vehicle. Officers tried to communicate with the suspect, but the suspect refused to exit the vehicle, causing a standoff to ensue.
Due to the location, the Sheriff's Office Special Enforcement Detail (SWAT) responded and took over the scene. Negotiators tried to communicate with the suspect, but the suspect still failed to comply with instructions.

On December 27, 2019, at approximately 12:11 am, the CHP - Sacramento Communications Center advised of an injury collision with an ambulance responding located on the 6000 block of Orange Ave. Witnesses advised of a vehicle down a ditch with two occupants appearing to be trapped. Units from the South Sacramento Area arrived on scene at 12:13 am and determined that this was a two vehicle major injury collision. The collision occurred as a 1994 Mercedes E320 station wagon was backing out of a residence located on the 6000 block of Orange Ave. The Mercedes backed up northbound across both lanes of Orange Ave, then as it began to travel forward into the eastbound lane of Orange Ave, it was broadsided by a 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 traveling at a high rate of speed. At approximately 6:30 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2019, the Sheriff’s Communications Center received a call from the 7400 block of Stockton Boulevard regarding an individual laying on the side of the street.
Deputies arrived and located an unresponsive adult female with minor visible trauma to her extremities.
Deputies began life saving measures and requested fire personnel respond. The female was declared deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives are on scene investigating.
The identity of the victim in this case will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office after notification of next of kin.

- Early Monday morning, a motorhome fire erupted at the Mark J Mobile Home and R.V. Park, in the 4700 block of Madison Avenue in North Highlands.
The elderly couple who live in the motorhome got out safely and were able to move their vehicle away from blaze.
One person was transported to the hospital via paramedics, who appeared to be in minor to moderate distress, to get checked out.

On December 15, 2019, at approximately 0257 hours, South Sacramento Area units were dispatched to a traffic collision on Fruitridge Road at Nona Way. It was advised by citizens at the scene that this was a vehicle versus pedestrian collision with a female adult laying in the middle of the street.
At 0305 hours, a South Sacramento unit arrived on scene and began CPR on the pedestrian laying in the middle of the roadway.
The driver, a 24 year old female from Sacramento, advised officers that she was driving a Ford Windstar westbound in the #1 lane of Fruitridge Road and was heading towards SR-99. She decided to move into the #2 lane and then felt an impact with her vehicle. She turned her vehicle around and parked on Nona Way at Fruitridge Road and called 911.
The driver of the Ford stayed on scene until emergency personnel arrived and was later released.

- Late Monday night, according to unofficial reports, the Sacramento Police Department became engaged in a pursuit int he South Sacramento area. The pursuit ended when the vehicle crashed into a traffic camera pole, with the vehicle splitting in two and completely coming apart.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation in which a pursuit ensued. The pursuit ended in a collision. The driver fled from the vehicle and was captured shortly after. Debris from the collision hit a pedestrian resulting in a minor injury. The suspect was arrested for pursuit charges and a warrant.

- Just after 1 a.m. Tuesday, the Sacramento Fire Department was called to Jamba Juice at 1429 Broadway, for a report of a ruptured gas line.
When crews arrived, they discovered a ruptured high pressure gas line at the meter behind the Jamba Juice store. The line was hit by an electric pallet jack during night-time deliveries to the business.
Roads were shut down in the are; Broadway and X Streets were closed between 16th and 13th Streets; until the line was able to be plugged by fire crews.
Due to the rupture being on the high-pressure feed side of the gas meeter, PG&E had to dispatch an emergency dig crew to repair the break.
Due to an inversion layer, the gas was flowing into the bedroom community to the south of the business. Residents were instructed to shelter in place and turn hearters off.

- On November 29, 2019 at approximately 10:05 pm, the CHP - Sacramento Communications Center broadcast a call of possible illegal street racing occurring at Florin Road at Elk Grove Florin Road. Approximately 100 vehicles were reported driving recklessly in the area.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) South Sacramento Area units began responding as well as CHP - Valley Division Air Operations aircraft Air 23.
At 10:11 pm, Air 23 advised the vehicles were now at Eagles Nest Road and Jackson Highway, blocking the intersection, doing donuts with parties outside of their vehicles filming. South Sacramento Area units arrived in the area and the vehicles began to disperse.
Air 23 directed units to a Mazda Miata and a Ford Mustang convertible that were observed doing donuts. The driver of the Mazda Miata immediately yielded to responding units. The driver was cited and his vehicle was impounded for 30 days.

On December 1, 2019 at approximately 12:28am, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) received reports of an auto vs. pedestrian traffic collision on Watt Avenue northbound, north of Marconi Avenue. Upon arrival on scene, CHP officers discovered an approximately 35 year old man was in the Watt Avenue northbound lanes and it is unclear if he was in a crosswalk at the time. Upon CHP arrival, CPR was provided until Sacramento Metro Fire Dept arrived. Despite life saving efforts, the unknown man was pronounced deceased at the scene at 12:38 am. Citizens within the area at the time of the collision provided differing statements regarding the events leading up to and after the collision. However, at this time investigators have yet to discover a witness to the actual collision.
