- Papua New Guineans have been urged to refrain from consuming too much processed food and drinks because of the increase in the number of lifestyle diseases.
The country’s first Kidney Specialist, Dr Steven Bogosia made this call during the World Kidney Day, in Port Moresby, last week.
He says, lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and high blood pressure are the direct result of eating too much processed food and drinks.

Mr Male was speaking during a presentation he made at the Voter Education Awareness Program organized by Caritas Kundiawa at Mingendi recently.
20 participants from 10 parishes in Simbu attended the workshop whose intentions were to educate people on their rights and freedoms and to ensure that elections are conducted without any trouble.
Judy Gelua, the Caritas Coordinator said after the workshop, the 20 participants will return to their parishes to carry out voter awareness work.

He made this clarification following the brutal attack on a police man’s son over the weekend which left the victim in comma.

The National Criminal Process Improvement Project or NCPIP is an initiative of the National Coordination Mechanism, and is undertaken by the heads of the various Law and Justice sectors; including the Chief Justice, Chief Magistrate, Attorney General, Police Commissioner, Public Prosecutor, Public Solicitor and CS Commissioner.
A Memorandum of Understanding between the different law and justice sectors was signed on December 10, 2020 giving rise to the implementation of this important project.

The current National Education Plan target is that by 2029, all children should complete 13 years of uninterrupted education and that major identified barriers are gradually removed.
According to the National Education Plan 2020-2029, there is now no institutional barrier such as a public examination in place to stop any child who has entered the preparatory grade from completing grade 8.

- A rural health center located in the borders of Tambul/Nebilyer, Mul Baiyer and Hagen Central Districts in the Western Highlands province is a proud recipient of medical goods and equipment from Rotary Australia.
The container containing the medical goods and equipment for the Togoba Health Centre was opened by a member of the Rotary Club of Mt Hagen, Jon Onga, on Tuesday.

- Madang Province has recorded its first shipment of white copra.
More than 20 farmers who are involved in the production of white copra in the province gathered yesterday at the Stewart Research Station, outside Madang town, and celebrated their achievement.
The first container of about eleven tonnes of white copra is now heading for Bangladesh.

- The country’s major referral hospital is currently imposing a minimum service fee on some of its services due to inadequate funding from the Government.
Chief Executive Officer, Dr Paki Molumi revealed this to NBC National News in Port Moresby, yesterday.
He says, the hospital is charging the fees to improve its services as well as to continue providing its services.
