Officials say they have confirmed a case in a goat in Gillespie County.
The Gillespie County case marks the fourth in Texas, says the US Department of Agriculture.
The case was confirmed around noon on June 8.
The USDA says it and the Texas Animal Health Commission are working to get additional details about the case and establish surveillance and testing in the area.
The three other Texas cases were in cattle in Zavala County, southwest of San Antonio, and La Salle County, northeast of Laredo.
Another case was found in a dog and reported in Andrews County, Texas, but officials say the dog actually resides in Lea County, New Mexico.
The New World screwworm is considered one of the most devastating livestock and wildlife pests in history.

Bass, who previously served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 11 years, faced a crowded race of 13 opponents that included Councilmember Nithya Raman and Spencer Pratt.
While Raman and Pratt led fundraising efforts, Angelenos voted to give Bass another chance.
Raman, a former ally of Karen Bass, announced her candidacy at the last minute by filing paperwork on Feb. 7, which was the last day to file paperwork to enter the race.

- The second day of testimony in the Karmelo Anthony trial began on Friday morning. The former Frisco ISD student is accused of fatally stabbing another student at a high school track meet.
Anthony, 19, faces a murder charge in the death of 17-year-old Austin Metcalf. Police said Anthony and Metcalf got into an argument over seating in the stadium stands on April 2, 2025, which escalated when Anthony stabbed Metcalf in the chest with a pocketknife.
The trial is expected to last approximately two weeks. If convicted, Anthony faces a maximum sentence of five to 99 years or life in prison.

- California Democratic gubernatorial candidate Xavier Becerra advanced to the state's general election Friday night, according to an Associated Press race call.
The AP called the race for Becerra at 7:50 p.m. ET, sending the former U.S. health secretary and ex-California attorney general into the November contest to succeed term-limited Gov. Gavin Newsom.
Becerra and Republican Steve Hilton appeared headed for a November showdown. AP vote totals showed Becerra with 26.7% of the vote and Hilton with 26.4%, while Democrat Tom Steyer finished third with 21.0%.
In a statement following the race call, Becerra touted the result as a victory for working Californians and said his campaign would carry its message into the fall election.
