Tyler Robinson is due in court Friday as his attorneys press their claims that biased coverage is tainting potential jurors in his aggravated murder case.
Among numerous examples cited was a New York Post story they say suggested Robinson confessed to Kirk's killing during a courtroom conversation on Dec. 11, in his first appearance after being charged. The conversation with his attorneys was inaudible, but the story cited a "lip reading analysis" to support its claim that Robinson said, "I think about the shooting daily."
"The predominant purpose being served by the live stream coverage has not been the educational reporting of the court proceedings, but rather advertising profit, sensationalism, political agendas, and, most prominently, the vilification of Mr. Robinson," his attorneys wrote in their request to bar cameras.

Joseph Lentz was traveling northbound on Mountain View Corridor from Eagle Mountain to West Jordan just before 6 a.m. on Friday when he hit a patch of black ice.
He rolled down the hillside but only suffered a minor injury.

“They’re trying to keep up with the prices, but this is going to have a huge impact on the kids here who mainly rely on these meals,” said Berta, a parent of children in elementary and middle schools in the district.
At Tuesday’s Board of Education meeting, SLCSD discussed raising the price of lunches by 45 to 50 cents and breakfasts by 80 cents to $1.05. Adult lunches, extra meals and side items would also increase. The district said it would be the first price increase in 14 years.

The Grappler Police Bumper by Stock Enterprises was heavily popularized in Arizona, where it was founded. Sgt. Lucas Alfred said the Washington County Sheriff's Department has added the device to about half of its standard patrol units so far and is working to place them on the rest next year.

- Multiple crashes on Interstate 80 near the Tooele-Salt Lake County border forced road closures and heavy delays Friday morning.
The Utah Department of Transportation first started reporting crashes in the area just after 5 a.m. on April 17.
In a traffic alert, the department said all westbound lanes on I-80 were blocked near Lake Point. In the eastbound lanes, only the left-most lane was blocked.
Details on the crashes were limited but Lt. Cameron Roden with Utah Highway Patrol confirmed there were multiple crashes slowing down traffic.
At least one crash involves two jacknifed semi-trucks. In another crash, some vehicles became stuck in the cable barrier and a concrete barrier was pushed into the travel lanes on the eastbound side.

As this front approaches your part of the state, it will produce a few scattered rain showers. But once the front moves through your area, those rain showers will quickly change to snow and you'll get a quick burst of snow for a couple of hours.
This front will move through the Wasatch Front this afternoon. Then it will move through central Utah this evening and southern Utah overnight. Far southern Utah won't get much precipitation from this storm, but you will get some strong winds.

State data shows that, on average, 13 hit-and-run crashes occur every day in Utah. At the same time, a significant portion of DUI arrests involve drivers under the influence of both drugs and alcohol, according to data from the Commission on Criminal and Juvenile Justice.
The issue is evolving alongside broader trends in impaired driving. Nearly half of all DUI convictions in Utah now involve drugs—not just alcohol.
