- A 9-1-1 call threatening violence against a central coast hospital led to a full scale lockdown at the hospital and more than three dozen law enforcement officers responding to the scene.
That emergency call came in just before nine Saturday night; a caller threatening violence against Dominican hospital.
“An individual saying they were essentially on their way to the hospital to do as much harm as possible,” said Ashley Keehn, spokeswoman for the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s office.
The call was later determined to be a swatting call, a call designed to set off a flurry of police activity. And that's exactly what happened with roughly 40 law enforcement officers descending on the hospital.

The system, officially called "adaptive traffic signal control," uses cameras mounted at intersections to monitor traffic and adjust signal timing.
In addition to improving commutes, the data collected from the AI signal controls will help transportation leaders determine whether to move forward with potential plans for roundabouts on Highway 68.
The roundabout plans are scheduled for discussion at next month's Transportation Agency for Monterey County meeting.
