According to city officials, the issue began in late May when the Washington State Department of Transportation closed Exit 119 to complete work on ramps and a roundabout.
During the project, the city temporarily lifted restrictions on heavy trucks on Center Drive so they could continue to access several warehouses in the northwest part of the city.
The route appeared to be a suitable detour until GPS devices began directing truck drivers onto McDonald Avenue, a narrow residential street near Center Drive.

- Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson announced a new strategy Wednesday aimed at addressing long-standing public safety concerns in Little Saigon and North Beacon Hill, combining increased police enforcement with expanded outreach and treatment services.
The plan targets the area around 12th Avenue South and South Jackson Street, a corridor that community leaders and business owners have for years identified as a hotspot for open-air drug activity, public disorder, and other criminal behavior.
Under the new approach, Seattle police officers will increase their presence in the neighborhood and contact people engaged in illegal activity. According to the mayor's office, individuals who continue to violate the law could face arrest or be referred to the Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion, or LEAD, program, which connects people with case management and support services instead of the traditional criminal justice system.

- It's official! Dim sum lovers from across Seattle and beyond gathered Thursday in the Chinatown–International District to take part in a record-breaking event: the world's largest dim sum gathering. And they did! A total of 830 participants joined the celebration, officially setting a new Guinness World Record and giving Seattle a new claim to fame.
The previous record was set in Australia in 2019, when 764 people gathered for a dim sum event. Seattle surpassed that mark by 66 participants, securing its place in the Guinness World Records.

It was an opportunity to experience every aspect of the game independently, from making his way around the stadium to following the action on the field as it happened.
Ferraro, a blind athlete, musician, and social media influencer with more than 3.5 million followers, attended Monday's match between Belgium and Egypt using two technologies designed to make sports and public spaces more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision.

- Description
- A road construction project in DuPont caused problems in a nearby neighborhood after GPS devices mistakenly routed semi-trucks onto residential streets.
According to city officials, the issue began in late May when the Washington State Department of Transportation closed Exit 119 to complete work on ramps and a roundabout. During the project, the city temporarily lifted restrictions on heavy trucks using Center Drive so they could continue accessing several warehouses in the northwest part of the city.
The route appeared to be a suitable detour until GPS devices began directing truck drivers onto McDonald Avenue, a narrow residential street near Center Drive.

Johnson is an umpire for South Highline National Little League – a volunteer gig he’s held for 56 years.
“I started in 1970,” said Johnson. “I was walking by a field of kids getting ready to play baseball, and I thought, well, I’ll just go down and watch and see what’s going on.”
That casual curiosity turned into decades of service. With 20 games a season, Ed has logged more than 1,120 games.
Why does he keep coming back? Ed says it’s the kids.

- Seattle City Light (SCL) is proposing a pair of 9.5% rate increases in 2027 and 2028 as the utility seeks to modernize aging infrastructure, expand renewable energy resources, and prepare for growing electricity demand across the region.
The proposed increases are part of the utility's new 2027-2032 Strategic Plan, which will be presented on Wednesday to the Seattle City Council's Parks & City Light Committee.
SCL officials say the investments are necessary to maintain reliable service while responding to rising costs, climate challenges, and increased electrification as more customers adopt electric vehicles and switch from fossil-fuel heating systems.

- Seattle's newest homeless housing facility opened with promises of expanding shelter capacity for people experiencing chronic homelessness, but questions are emerging about why most of its units remain unoccupied a week after opening.
About 15 people are currently living at the Bayside Enhanced Shelter, which began operations on June 9 in Seattle's Interbay neighborhood.
The facility, at 1551 W. Armory Way, is operated by the nonprofit Everyone Deserves Housing and features prefabricated units built by Everett-based Pallet Shelter.
The site will eventually provide 75 shelter units for single adults, though only 50 units are currently in place. The remaining 25 units are expected to be delivered and installed by the end of the month.
