Officials say they’re working with MEAN to find the specific cause of the sharp transmission rate increase, which translates to an additional and unexpected annual expense ...

State officials say the goal is prevention, not just crisis response — supporting families early, prioritizing kinship placements when children can't stay home, and speeding up permanent solutions. Langer Industrial's plan to buy a large shredding machine won a positive recommendation and a vote of approval on a $600,000 economic development loan last week during the Scottsbluff City Council meeting. The machine can shred metal and tires together, then separate them, something the company's current equipment can't do. Owner Pete Langer says it has struggled to keep up with demand, especially for tires, which it collects across Nebraska, South Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and Kansas. The loan comes with job credits of $2,000 per full-time employee above a base of 20, capped at $30,000 a year. Langer started with about seven workers and now has 20. He projects this new shredder will create seven- and possibly up to ten- additional jobs at their site on the South Beltline Highway.

Goss says bankers reported farm and ranchland values have been holding up much better than ag income, with top buyers of properties being existing ag producers.
However, ag equipment sales continued to lag, with that specific portion of the survey remaining below growth neutral for the 37th straight month.
Nebraska's RMI dropped further below growth neutral, down more than 4.5 points to 43.3 for the month, as trade data shows Nebraska's exports of ag goods and livestock were down $90.4 million, or 11.8 percent, for the first seven months of 2026 compared to the same t...

While companies can contract with vendors freely and delegate authority, data security is a non-delegable duty. - Vote Yes for Scottsbluff Aquatics and Senior Center, a citizens’ steering committee, has started their efforts to assist in the passage of the LB 357 half-cent sales tax for infrastructure that will be on the November ballot. If approved, money from the additional tax would go toward an aquatics and senior center that would be built where the former Kmart currently stands. In a recent conversation with KNEB News, Committee member Loren Gutwein said while the new facility will have some water features, it's not meant to be a replacement for the city's existing waterpark. The group has scheduled two town hall meetings for city residents, with representatives from the City of Scottsbluff, Scottsbluff Family YMCA, and Vote Yes Committee Members on hand to share factual information and receive public input. Those meetings with take place Sept. 29th and Oct. 6, both starting at 6 p.m. at the Midwest Theater.
