- After Hurricane Lala canceled an inter-island exhibition at Hawaii Hilo this past weekend, the University of Hawaii women’s volleyball team returned to the court Monday night for a preseason tune-up against Chaminade.
It marked the first home-court appearance for first-year Hawaii head coach Joshua Walker, who led the Rainbow Wahine in their exhibition debut at Bankoh Arena.
Hawaii swept all three sets against Chaminade, a perennial Division II PacWest contender, in the glorified scrimmage.
Miliana Sylvester led the Rainbow Wahine at the net with six blocks and 12 kills, hitting .240 on 25 attacks.
Senior transfer Pana Ratkai added 13 kills on 35 swings.
For Chaminade, Lilinoe Paschoal finished with 12 assists, while Tabby Allen recorded three aces.
Hawaii will open the regular season Aug. 28 against Georgia Southern.
Chaminade begins its season Thursday against Alaska Anchorage.
