- Iran said Monday it attacked US military targets in Jordan in retaliation for the first American strikes on its territory in a month, marking a fresh flare-up in the six-month war.
Tehran's powerful Revolutionary Guards said they struck two US military air bases with ballistic missiles in Washington-allied Jordan, causing "heavy damage."
Jordan's army said it had intercepted eight missiles, without stating their origin.
The strikes came after the United States said Sunday it had attacked Iranian rocket launchers on a small island in the Strait of Hormuz.
Washington said its attacks were aimed at preventing Iran from launching more sea mines into the strait, days after it announced it had completed clearing explosives from the strategic waterway.

At 46, the Brazilian legend has stunned the football world by joining Ravenna in Serie C, nearly 11 years after his last official match.
What first looked like a publicity stunt became very real when Ronaldinho stepped off a private jet in Italy, completed his medical and joined the club as both a shareholder and potential player.
Now, the former Ballon d’Or winner has one more dream: to wear Ravenna’s yellow-and-red jersey, inspire the squad and, perhaps, score one final goal.
“Friendship and passion” brought him back. And Ravenna? They’re dreaming bigger than ever.

- Extreme heat, power cuts and water shortages are fuelling public anger in Tunisia.
The demonstration was organised by Nafas, a new opposition collective seeking to unite political parties and independent figures against what it describes as government failure and injustice.
Temperatures reached 50°C (122°F) in parts of Tunisia this summer, pushing electricity demand to record levels and prompting state utility STEG to ration power in several regions.
The blackouts also disrupted water pumping stations, while medicine shortages, rising living costs and restrictions on freedoms added to growing frustration.
Protesters revived slogans from Tunisia's 2011 Arab Spring uprising, including calls for the fall of the regime and “Dégage” “Get Out.”
