The Idaho Chukar Foundation hosted a rattlesnake, porcupine, and skunk avoidance training for dogs at the Agriculture Pavilion in Boise’s Julia Davis Park on Saturday.

On June 5, 1976, the earthen dam in eastern Idaho failed, sending a massive wall of water through communities along the Teton and Snake rivers. Eleven people died, thousands were displaced, and damage exceeded $1 billion.
For Anita, who was 11 years old at the time, the events of that day remain vivid. She remembers first seeing what appeared to be a long cloud of dust and debris moving across the landscape. "That's when I became afraid," she recalled.
As floodwaters surged through the area, Anita's family was eventually rescued by helicopter. Looking down from the air, she said the familiar landscape had disappeared beneath muddy water.
"All I could see below me was a great big giant brown muddy sea of water," she said.
The experience permanently changed how she thinks about time.

- U.S. Navy says crews have finished removing aircraft wreckage after two jets collided during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base on May 17. Idaho Department of Environmental Quality has approved backfilling the site and contractors are set to start repaving the closed section of Highway 167.
The Navy expects the highway to reopen within the next two weeks.
