The system is approximately 1000 km offshore of the Australian mainland in Fiji Meteorological Services' area of responsibility, but is expected to move into the Australian area as a weak tropical cyclone or tropical low within the next 48 hours. Uesi has the potential to bring large waves to parts of southeast Qld and northeast NSW from Thursday.

- At the start of the week, the Northern Territory was experiencing it's driest wet season to date—by the end of the week, a deluge of rain has fallen. We have now eclipsed the amount of rain we had this time last wet season. The showers and thunderstorms brought heavy rainfall to northern Queensland.
