- Why we don't say 'Super' El Niño
- Date posted
- Description
- You may have seen the term 'Super El Niño' recently.
This isn't a term the Bureau uses to classify El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) events.
The impact of every El Niño is different. How strong an event is, does not always match the strength of its impact on our weather and climate.
The best guide to Australia's likely rainfall and temperature patterns in the coming months and seasons is the Bureau's long-range forecast.
The long-range forecast responds to all ongoing changes in our climate system and is updated regularly.
