- Improvements to rain forecast on BOM Weather app
- Runtime
- 0:54
- Date posted
- Description
- The Bureau has made our rain forecasts easier to understand.
On the BOM Weather app, you'll now see how much rainfall in millimetres is expected during each day.
When rainfall is likely, our forecasts will include the amount of rainfall as a range.
When rainfall is unlikely, our forecasts will describe the chance of not receiving any rainfall.
We've also broadened the rainfall range in the daily overview
There's a high (75%) chance of the first amount (the smaller number), and a low (25%) chance of the second (the larger number).
Rainfall forecasts will also be shown in whole numbers, with decimals no longer used to display expected rainfall.
Making rainfall forecasts easier to understand means customers can be confident in their understanding of the amount of rain expected in their location. These changes will equip all Australians with the rainfall information they need to make informed decisions.
