- Two London Underground workers who post uplifting messages on white boards in Tube stations said they hoped their words "make people feel less alone".
Jeremy Chopra and Ian Redpath began putting up quotes and poems anonymously on the information board at North Greenwich station in March 2017. Since then they have amassed more than 600,000 followers on social media and have now written a book of quotes.
Mr Redpath said they created the messages to "bring people together".

- A barbershop run by a man known as the "Mayor of Hounslow" is closing its door for the last time due to a second England lockdown. Dennis Annoh, 51, has run Hairshack on the same site in Gilbert Street, Hounslow, west London for 27 years.
He opened the shop as a record store in 1993 called Sugar Shack, but converted it into a barbers when people began buying CDs. The first coronavirus lockdown was challenging, but the doors will not be reopening after the second England-wide lockdown.
Mr Annoh says business "is not coming back".

It has been created to highlight the impact of global warming after a Zurich University study found that London’s climate could be warm enough to grow such foods by the middle of the century.

British-born Chinese vlogger Shu Lin uses Instagram as an everyday tool for her storytelling, and, like many, has used filters to retouch her posts in the past.
But the 28-year-old, who lives in north London, says she has recently noticed a more sinister side to the technology. Filters, which began as cute puppy dog ears and love heart eyes, have now evolved into face, eye and skin colour-transforming toolkits for the everyday user.

- When the Coronavirus pandemic hit London in March Newham Council ended homelessness "in three days," says charity worker Lorraine Tabone.
Lorraine Tabone and her team of volunteers have been feeding homeless people in east London for five years. Newham Council says 320 rough sleepers are currently in accommodation found by the council.
"Now if you look around you can't see one homeless person. It just shows you what can happen with money," Ms Tabone said.
The council says it plans to continue this level of temporary accommodation into the New Year but Ms Tabone is concerned about whether they will be able to keep a roof over their heads.

- Three members of the same family took a photo in the same spot on the day they became London firefighters. Back in 1966, Colin Gunn became a firefighter and posed for a photograph outside Southwark Training Centre on the day of his passing out ceremony.
His son, Nick Gunn, joined in 1988 and had his photograph was taken in exactly the same place. Owen Gunn then became the third generation of the family to be a London firefighter and was snapped in the same spot.

- A couple who experienced miscarriage during the UK's coronavirus lockdown have said they want to see "clearer communication" on hospital visiting restrictions during the pandemic.
Catriona Amberton, 32, had been expecting identical twins but her husband James Young, 33, was unable to be with her when a scan revealed one of the babies had died, before they later learned the other twin had also passed away.
The couple later discovered Mr Young could have attended the final scan.
NHS England has since published guidelines on access for partners but the couple have called for clearer communication.

- Musician Olivia Dean, from east London, had to stop performing inside venues during the Covid-19 lockdown. With many venues still shut, she found a new way to bring live music to people, by turning a brightly-coloured van into a stage on wheels.
She’s driving around the country for her From Me To You tour and performing socially-distanced concerts.

- Seven-year-old Lily was told she would never walk, hold a pencil or ride a bike and she's overcome it all. Now she is walking 15km for Haven House Hospice to raise the money to help sick children across London.
Lily's goal is to raise £24,700 to reflect the 24 hour care in the hospice.

- Job losses and a shift to remote working led many young people to leave the capital. Fewer workers and tourists have reportedly led to a decrease in rents in some London boroughs.
According to housing website Zoopla the City of London has seen a six per cent drop in rents since the start of Lockdown. In Tower Hamlets it is five per cent.
But will cheaper accommodation costs be enough to bring back young people who left the capital during lockdown?
