- Good Morning Minute📆
A 56-year-old woman was arrested after deputies said she tried to hit a child riding a dirt bike, and later showed up at a stranger’s home in what authorities described as an extremely dangerous series of events in Spokane County.
Around 6:05 a.m. on April 28, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to reports of a reckless and aggressive driver in the 7500 block of South Fruitvale Road, according to the sheriff’s office. During the incident, the driver reportedly steered onto a sidewalk and tried to hit a child riding a dirt bike, then chased the rider before returning to the road and leaving the area.
The child got away and was not hurt.
Deputies talked to witnesses and reviewed cellphone video of the incident, which helped establish probable cause to arrest the driver.

- Among the many schools across West Michigan hoping to secure additional funding during the May 5 Election was Comstock Public Schools and Galesburg-Augusta Community Schools.
Both districts returned requests to the ballot after their previous proposals failed in November.
Unofficial results show the proposals have split results, with Galesburg-Augusta Community School's proposal passing and Comstock Public School's proposal failing.
Below is a breakdown of what each proposal was asking for, as well as voter’s response.
Comstock Public Schools
Last November, voters rejected a $31.8 million bond, which lost by a narrow margin of slightly more than 100 votes, mainly due to concerns over an expected 0.5-mill increase.
Following the rejection, leaders went back to the drawing board to plan a scaled-down proposal that would still allow for big improvements district wide, at a smaller price.

- Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed on Tuesday that the fragile ceasefire between Iran and the U.S., which has held for more than three weeks, remains intact, despite a new exchange of fire in the Strait of Hormuz, as Washington moves to restore the free flow of commerce and protect commercial shipping.
"No, the ceasefire is not over," Hegseth told reporters. "Ultimately, this is a separate and distinct project, and we expected there would be some churn at the beginning, which happened, and we said we would defend it, defend aggressively, and we absolutely have."
Iran opened fire on Monday on U.S. warships, prompting the U.S. military to destroy six Iranian small boats, according to Adm. Brad Cooper, commander of U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM). Officials said the fast boats were lightly armed and represented a limited threat compared to U.S. naval capabilities.

Well, not really in their back pockets, but in the front seat of their patrol cars: a calming and caring member of the clergy.
Pastor Greg Jennings started the "Pastors on Patrol" program with KDPS and often rides along with community police officer, Casey Crooks.
"Just being able to empathize and talk to people," Crooks said. "Most of the time, when we encounter people, they're going through some of the hardest days of their lives."
Jennings says his partnership with the police is simply an extension of his work behind the pulpit at Progressive Deliverance Ministries.
"It’s just a really good program that we can go in and we can move in and comfort families as they're going through the traumatic issues that they're going through," Jennings said.

- FULL GAGGLE: 'Do we just want to blast the hell out of 'em or make a deal?': Trump says of Iran war
- Date posted
- Description
- The conflict involving Iran reached the 60-day mark Friday, and the Trump administration argues it has effectively ended due to a fragile ceasefire that began in April — meaning congressional approval is no longer required.
In a letter to Congress, President Donald Trump said hostilities with Iran have “terminated,” despite the continued presence of U.S. troops in the region — a position that allows the administration to sidestep the May 1 deadline to seek authorization for ongoing military action.
“The hostilities that began on February 28, 2026, have terminated,” Trump wrote to House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., and Senate President Pro Tempore Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa.
Trump also acknowledged the conflict may not be fully resolved.
“Despite the success of United States operations against the Iranian regime and continued efforts to secure a lasting peace, the threat posed by Iran to the United States and our Armed...

- Date posted
- Description
- President Donald Trump on Thursday signed an executive order to approve the creation of a new government website where Americans can compare private-sector retirement savings options, an effort to help the millions of workers who don't have employer-sponsored plans.
The initiative was designed to expand access to retirement accounts ahead of a new federal benefit that's set to begin in January 2027, when the government will start matching contributions made by low- and middle-income workers.

It will offer smaller matches for single filers making less than $46,000 a year. It applies to contributions made toward 401(k) plans, IRAs and Roth IRAs.
